Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR28## the pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts thereof and the pharmaceutically-acceptable base salts thereof;
- wherein R.sup.2 is alkyl having from one to six carbons.
- 2. The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is isopropyl.
- 3. A pharmaceutical composition, suitable for treating a bacterial infection in a mammalian subject, which comprises an antibacterially effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 4. A method of treating a bacterial infection in a mammalian subject, which comprises administering thereto an antibacterially effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR29## or a pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salt thereof or a pharmaceutically-acceptable base salt thereof;
- wherein R.sup.2 is alkyl having from one to six carbons.
- 5. The method according to claim 4, wherein R.sup.2 is isopropyl.
- 6. A compound of the formula ##STR30## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of 1-methyl-2-alkoxycarbonylvinyl having 1 to 3 carbons in said alkoxy moiety, benzyloxycarbonyl and 4-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl;
- and (R.sup.7)' is alkyl having from one to six carbons.
- 7. A compound according to claim 6, wherein X is 1-methyl-2-methoxycarbonylvinyl.
- 8. The compound according to claim 7, wherein (R.sup.7)' is isopropyl.
