Claims
- 1. An antibody to a receptor found as a dimer in the presence of a reducing agent having a subunit with a molecular weight of about 38,000 daltons and a subunit with a molecular weight of about 43,000 daltons, on the surface of natural killer cells of mammalian and fish origin that is recognized by an antibody produced by a hybridoma selected from the group consisting of the hybridomas deposited with ATCC on Oct. 16, 1987 and designated HB9572 and HB9573, wherein the receptor is involved in non-MHC restricted, non-antigen specific cytolysis of target cells.
- 2. The antibody of claim 1 wherein said receptor recognizes an antigen on the surface of a target cell susceptible of lysis by the natural killer cells.
- 3. The antibody of claim 2 wherein said antibody is synthesized from a hybridoma produced by fusing a myeloma cell with spleen cells from an animal immunized with fish non-specific cytotoxic cells.
- 4. The antibody of claim 3 produced by a hybridoma selected from the group consisting of 5C6.10.4, 6D3.2.10, 2B2.4.9, and 6D3.4.4.
- 5. The antibody of claim 4 produced by a hybridoma deposited with the ATCC as ATCC No. HB9572.
- 6. The antibody of claim 4 produced by a hybridoma deposited with the ATCC as ATCC No. HB9573.
- 7. The antibody of claim 1 produced by immunization of an animal with purified antigen isolated by an antigen-antibody technique using a monoclonal antibody derived from a hybridoma produced by fusing a myeloma cell with spleen cells from an animal immunized with fish non-specific cytotoxic cells.
- 8. An antibody immunoreactive with a target cell antigen present on the surface of cells of mammalian or fish origin susceptible to lysis by natural killer cells, wherein the antigen is a polypeptide having a molecular weight of about 42,000 as determined by SDS gel electrophoresis under either reducing or non-reducing conditions and is immunoreactive with an antibody produced by a hybridoma that was deposited with the ATCC on Oct. 16, 1987 and designated HB9571.
- 9. The antibody of claim 8 wherein the antigen is recognized by a receptor molecule on the surface of the natural killer cells.
- 10. The antibody of claim 8 wherein the antibody is derived from a hybridoma produced by fusing a myeloma cell with spleen cells from an animal immunized with a human B lymphoma cell line NC-37.
- 11. The antibody of claim 10 produced by a hybridoma selected from the group consisting of 18C2.8.3, and 1E7,.
- 12. The antibody of claim 11 produced by a hybridoma deposited with the ATCC as ATCC No. HB9571.
- 13. The antibody of claim 11 produced by a hybridoma deposited with the ATCC as ATCC No. HB9574.
- 14. The antibody of claim 8 produced by immunization of an animal with purified antigen isolated by an antigen-antibody technique using a monoclonal antibody derived from a hybridoma produced by fusing a myeloma cell with spleen cells from an animal immunized with human B lymphoma cell line NC-37.
