Claims
- 1. A method for avoiding inadvertent entry into at least one resident test mode of an integrated circuit, comprising:
- precluding a first circuit in a disable state from changing to an enable state in response to at least a first signal having a magnitude exceeding a threshold greater than a specification rating signal level for the integrated circuit;
- maintaining the first circuit in a disable state;
- switching an output level of a re-enable circuit to an active state in response to at least a second signal having a magnitude exceeding the threshold;
- maintaining the output level active after the at least a second signal level returns below the threshold;
- changing the state of the first circuit from the disable state to the enable state; and
- storing a test mode identification corresponding to a predefined test mode of the integrated circuit.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein switching an output level of a re-enable circuit to an active state comprises shorting an electronic device.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising changing the first circuit from the disable state to the enable state responsive to an active output level of the re-enable circuit together with an active prescribed signal indicative of a prescribed pattern of clock and address signals.
- 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising, prior to switching:
- detecting at least a third signal at a signal level exceeding the threshold, and wherein the switching occurs during detection of the at least a third signal at a level exceeding the threshold.
- 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the at least a second signal with a disable circuit; coupling the re-enable circuit and the disable circuit to the first circuit with a logic circuit; generating a test-key re-enable signal with the re-enable circuit to the logic circuit in response to the at least a first signal to enable the first circuit to change from the disable state to the enable state; and generating a test-key disable signal with the disable circuit to the logic circuit in response to the at least a second signal to cause the first circuit to maintain a disable state while the test-key re-enable signal is inactive.
- 6. A method for avoiding inadvertent entry into at least one resident test mode of an integrated circuit, comprising:
- precluding an enable state of a first circuit in a disable state from responding to a first signal having a magnitude exceeding a threshold greater than a specification rating signal level for the integrated circuit;
- maintaining the first circuit in the disable state;
- detecting a second signal having a magnitude exceeding the threshold;
- switching an output level of a re-enable circuit to an active state in response to the first signal during detection of the second signal;
- maintaining the output level active after the first signal level returns below the threshold;
- after the maintaining, detecting and switching, changing the state of the first circuit from the disable state to the enable state and maintaining the enable state after the signal level of either one or both of the first signal and second signal fall below the threshold; and
- storing a test mode identification corresponding to a predefined test mode of the integrated circuit.
- 7. A method for avoiding inadvertent entry into at least one resident test mode of an integrated circuit, the method comprising:
- switching an output level of a re-enable circuit to an active state in response to at least one signal having a magnitude exceeding a threshold greater than a specification rating signal level for the integrated circuit;
- maintaining the output level active after the at least one signal returns below the threshold; and
- changing the state of a first circuit coupled to the re-enable circuit from a disable state to an enable state, wherein in the enable state the first circuit is enabled to cause the integrated circuit to enter into the at least one resident test mode of the integrated circuit upon receipt of a corresponding test mode identification signal.
