Claims
- 1. An apparatus for grinding gears by means of a generating method, comprising:
- means for machining a right tooth flank and a left tooth flank of a gear comprising a pair of grinding wheels, each having a substantially point-shaped contact zone disposed at a respective lateral edge of each grinding wheel, each grinding wheel being rotatable about a respective axis;
- a respective grinding support upon which there is mounted an associated one of the grinding wheels; and
- means for pivotably mounting each grinding support about a pivot axis, said pivot axis being arranged transversely of the rotational axis of the associated grinding wheel, said pivotable mounting means being positioned such that said pivot axis substantially intersects the point-shaped contact zone of the associated grinding wheel.
- 2. An apparatus for grinding cylindrical gears by means of a generating method, comprising:
- means for machining a right tooth flank and a left tooth flank of a gear comprising two substantially plate-shaped grinding wheels, each having a substantially point-shaped contact zone disposed at a respective lateral edge of each grinding wheel, each grinding wheel being rotatable about a respective axis;
- a respective grinding support upon which there is mounted an associated one of the grinding wheels; and
- means for pivotably mounting each grinding support about a pivot axis, said pivot being arranged transversely of a rotational axis of the associated grinding wheel, said pivotable mounting means being positioned such that said pivot axis substantially intersects the point-shaped contact zone of the associated grinding wheel.
- 3. The apparatus as defined in claim 2, further including:
- an angularly-rigidly mounted dressing device provided for each grinding support for dressing an end surface of the grinding wheel mounted thereat;
- an angularly-rigidly mounted dressing device provided for each grinding support for dressing the outer surface of the grinding wheel mounted thereat;
- a feeler device provided for each grinding support for sensing the grinding wheels; and
- means mounting said feeler device to be pivotable about a point located at the region of the upper grinding edge of the grinding wheel mounted at the related grinding support.
- 4. The apparatus as defined in claim 2, wherein:
- each grinding wheel possesses a rounded work edge.
- 5. The apparatus as defined in claim 2, wherein:
- said grinding supports comprise means mounting said grinding wheels so as to maintain a connection line between the contact zones of the grinding wheels at a spacing from a base cylinder of the gear such that in each terminal position of the generating movement one grinding wheel machines a tooth tip and at the same time the other grinding wheel machines a tooth root.
