Claims
- 1. An assembly to aid in the termination of a plurality of wires with a multi-pin connector, comprising
- an identification block including two elongated members pivotally hinged together at one end, a latching assembly to hold said elongated members together, recesses provided in the mating surfaces of said elongated members forming a cavity for receiving and holding terminal sleeves in specific orientation, said elongated members providing for the passage of wires between said elongated members when held together and through the terminal sleeves; and
- a wire clamp, said wire clamp including two jaws pivotally coupled at one end, and a latching assembly for selectively holding said jaws together; said identification block and said wire clamp being capable of holding and positioning a plurality of wires such that the wires may be drawn through the identification block longitudinally in a first direction and are prevented from moving longitudinally in a second direction through said identification block.
- 2. The device of claim 1 wherein said wire clamp includes resilient members on each of said jaws for resiliently clamping a plurality of wires.
- 3. An identification block to aid in the termination of a plurality of wires with a multi-pin connector, comprising
- a first elongate member having a first recess on one surface thereof;
- a second elongate member having a second recess on one surface thereof;
- means for joining said first and second elongate members together such that said first and said second recesses are juxtaposed, said first and second recesses together forming a cavity for receiving terminal sleeves; and
- means for positioning the terminal sleeves within said cavity such that the terminal sleeves may be moved simultaneously onto the connector pins of a preselected multi-pin connector.
- 4. The identification block of claim 3 wherein said first and said second elongate members provide for the passage of wires between said first and said second members when joined and through the terminal sleeves.
- 5. The identification block of claim 3 wherein said means for joining said first and said second elongate members includes a hinge.
- 6. The identification block of claim 3 wherein said means for joining said first and said second elongate members includes a latching assembly.
- 7. The identification block of claim 3 wherein said means for positioning the terminal sleeves with said cavity includes a scalloped ridge having concave surfaces for receiving individual terminal sleeves.
- 8. The identification block of claim 3 wherein said cavity positively prevents movement of the terminal sleeves in a first direction.
- 9. The identification block of claim 3 wherein one side of identification block formed by said first and said second elongated members is capable of receiving and cooperating with a wire clamp.
- 10. An identification block to aid in the termination of a plurality of wires with a multi-pin connector employing multiple terminal sleeves, which block comprises
- a first elongate member;
- a second elongate member;
- means for joining said first and said second elongate members together in juxtaposition, the mutually adjacent surfaces of said first and said second elongate members defining therebetween a cavity for receiving terminal sleeves and a first retaining means along one side of said cavity to prevent positioned terminal sleeves from longitudinal movement in a first direction, said joining means allowing separation of said elongate members to allow lateral introduction of terminal sleeves into said cavity.
- 11. The identification block of claim 10 wherein said retaining means includes a wall extending longitudinally along one of said first and second elongate members and having passageways therethrough.
- 12. The identification block of claim 10 wherein each of said first and second elongate members includes a recess in said mutually adjacent surfaces to form said cavity.
- 13. The identification block of claim 10 further including means for positioning terminal sleeves within said cavity, said positioning means including a scalloped ridge having concave surfaces for receiving individual terminal sleeves within said cavity.
