Claims
- 1. A method of producing a device, comprising:providing a stoichiometric material; converting the stoichiometric material into a non-stoichiometric non-equilibrium crystalline nanomaterial, and processing the non-stoichiometric non-equilibrium crystalline material into a desired device.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the stoichiometric material comprises a submicron material.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the stoichiometric material comprises a nanostructured material.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises an optical device.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises an electrical device.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a thermal device.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a magnetic device.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a catalytic device.
- 9. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a biomedical device.
- 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises an electrochemical device.
- 11. The method of claim 1 further comprising processing the device to convert the non-stoichiometric non-equilibrium crystalline material into a stoichiometric material.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein the stoichiometric material comprises a submicron material.
- 13. The method of claim 11 wherein the stoichiometric material comprises a nanostructured material.
- 14. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises an optical device.
- 15. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises an electrical device.
- 16. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises a thermal device.
- 17. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises a magnetic device.
- 18. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises a catalytic device.
- 19. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises a biomedical device.
- 20. The method of claim 11 wherein the device comprises an electrochemical device.
- 21. The method of claim 11 wherein the device exhibits domain confinement effects.
- 22. The method of claim 1 wherein the device exhibits domain confinement effects.
- 23. The method of claim 1 wherein the device comprises a polymer.
- 24. The method of claim 1 wherein the crystalline non-stoichiometric non-equilibrium material comprises a filler.
- 25. A device comprising:a non-stoichiometric non-equilibrium crystalline material wherein the device exhibits domain confinement effects.

The present application is a divisional of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 09/274,517 filed on Mar. 23, 1999 now U.S. Pat. No. 6,344,271 entitled “MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS USING NANOSTRUCTURED NON-STOICHIOMETRIC SUBSTANCES” which claims the priority of provisional application No. 60/107,318, filed Nov. 6, 1998, entitled “Materials and Products Using Nanostructured Non-stoichiometric Materials,” all of which are assigned to the assignee of the present invention and which are incorporated herein by reference.
