Claims
- 1. A mold system for use in mold forming a part, said mold system comprising:
- a surface;
- a plurality of target means for defining a precisely known spatial relationship in a three dimensional coordinate system, said plurality of target means located on said surface for defining precisely known positions on said surface;
- an image mold, said image mold including an image of said part, said image mold locatable on said surface in a known association with said target means;
- a complimentary mold formed on said image mold and said surface, said complimentary mold including a complimentary image of said part and further including an image of said target means on said surface; and
- said image of said target means on said complimentary mold defining precisely known positions on said complimentary mold which are precisely located with respect to said complimentary image of said part on said complimentary mold to precisely define said complimentary image of said part with respect to said three dimensional coordinate system whereby when a part is molded on said complimentary mold, points on said part are precisely known with respect to said three dimensional coordinate system.
- 2. A mold system of claim 1 further including:
- a computer memory data model means of said part for defining said part in a data model in a computer memory, said computer memory data model means including coordinate points in a three dimensional coordinate system; and
- domain interface means for comparing said image of said part on said image mold to said computer memory data model means of said part by comparing said target means to said data model means coordinate points.
- 3. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said domain interface means includes a microprocessor controlled optical measuring means, said microprocessor controlled optical measuring means for measuring target points in three dimensional space.
- 4. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said computer memory data model means comprise a master data model of said part in a 3-dimensional graphics computer system.
- 5. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said domain interface means for further comparing a part molded on said complimentary mold to said computer memory data model means of said part by comparing precisely known parts on said part to said computer memory data model means coordinate points.
- 6. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said target means includes a plurality of precisely positioned targets located at precisely known locations on said surface.
- 7. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said targets includes a plurality of precisely located and precisely dimensioned target openings formed in said surface; and
- said targets further includes a plurality of target members sized and shaped to fit into said target openings.
- 8. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said image mold includes a plurality of profile boards and least one connector board, each of said profile boards including at least one profile edge, said profile edge of each of said profile boards located in a mold line surface which defines said image of said part, each of said profile boards further including locator means for fixedly locating said profile board with respect to said connector board, said connector board further including locator means for fixedly locating said connector board with respect to each of said profile boards, said respective locator means each including a locator edge on said respective profile boards and said respective connector board.
- 9. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said complimentary mold is formed of a plurality of fiber layers dispersed in a matrix selected from the group consisting of calcium oxide, calcium sulfate and mixture of calcium oxide and calcium sulfate.
- 10. A mold system of claim 1 wherein:
- said complimentary mold is formed of a plurality of layers of fiber glass mat dispersed in said matrix.
