Claims
- 1. A composition of matter comprising, in admixture, polycarbonate, chlorinated polyethylene to which an ethylenically unsaturated monomer is not graft polymerized, an epoxy resin, a styrenic copolymer and an antimony compound.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the epoxy resin is described by the formula ##STR8## where each T can independently be hydrogen or an aliphatic hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to about 3 carbon atoms; each M is independently chlorine or bromine; each i is independently 1 or 2; each L is independently a divalent hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; and q can be any value from 0 to 20 (not necessarily an integer).
- 3. The composition of claim 1 further comprising polyester.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 further comprising poly(vinyl chloride).
- 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the styrenic copolymer is selected from a vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer and a rubber-modified vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer.
- 6. The composition of claim 5 wherein the rubber-modifier in the rubber-modified vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer is polymerized from a diene, an olefin monomer, an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, a vinyl aromatic compound or a vinyl nitrile compound or a mixture thereof.
- 7. The composition of claim 1 wherein the styrenic copolymer is a vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer which contains at least 35 percent vinyl nitrile compound by weight.
- 8. The composition of claim 7 wherein the vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer is rubber-modified.
- 9. The composition of claim 8 wherein the rubber-modifier in the rubber-modified vinyl aromatic/vinyl nitrile copolymer is polymerized from a diene, an olefin monomer, an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, a vinyl aromatic compound or a vinyl nitrile compound, or a mixture thereof.
- 10. The composition of claim 1 further comprising chlorinated polyethylene to which an ethylenically unsaturated monomer is graft polymerized.
- 11. The composition of claim 10 wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomer is selected from one or more members of the group consisting of an alkyl ester of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, a vinyl aromatic compound, a vinyl ester and a vinyl nitrile compound.
- 12. The composition of claim 10 wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomer is selected from one or more members of the group consisting of methyl methacrylate, styrene, vinyl acetate and acrylonitrile.
- 13. The composition of claim 1 further comprising an elastomeric impact modifier.
- 14. The composition of claim 1 wherein the antimony compound is an antimony oxide.
- 15. The composition of claim 1 further comprising a fluorinated olefin polymer or copolymer.
- 16. The composition of claim 1 which has a V-0 rating in the U.L.-94 burn test.
- 17. The composition of claim 1 which has a 5 V rating in the U.L.-94 burn test.
- 18. The composition of claim 1 further comprising an acid acceptor.
- 19. The composition of claim 1 in the form of a molded or extruded article.
