Claims
- 1. A method of treating an animal with acute ocular inflammation comprising administering to said animal an amount of an antibody having binding affinity for a cell adhesion molecule selected from the group consisting of ELAM-1, Mac-1, ICAM-1 and LFA-1 effective to bind the cell adhesion molecule such that said antibody binds the cell adhesion molecule and said treatment is effected.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said inflammation results from trauma or disease.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said inflammation is post-surgical inflammation.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said inflammation results from post-surgical corneal graft rejection.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said inflammation is posterior uveitis.
- 6. A method of blocking the interaction between a cell adhesion molecule and its respective ligand in an animal with acute ocular inflammation comprising administering to said animal an amount of an antibody having binding affinity for said cell adhesion molecule selected from the group consisting of ELAM-1, Mac-1, ICAM-1 and LFA-1 sufficient to block the interaction between the cell adhesion molecule and its respective ligand such that blocking of said molecule is effected.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein said inflammation results from trauma or disease.
- 8. The method of claim 6, wherein said inflammation is post-surgical inflammation.
- 9. The method of claim 6, wherein said inflammation results from post-surgical corneal graft rejection.
- 10. The method of claim 6, wherein said inflammation is posterior uveitis.
- 11. A method of treating ocular inflammation in an animal comprising administering to said animal an amount of an antibody having binding affinity for a cell adhesion molecule selected from the group consisting of LFA-1 and ICAM-1 effective to bind the cell adhesion molecule such that said antibody binds the cell adhesion molecule and said treatment is effected.
- 12. A method of treating ocular inflammation in an animal comprising topically administering to the eye of said animal an amount of an antibody having binding affinity for a cell adhesion molecule selected from the group consisting of ELAM-1, Mac-1, ICAM-1 and LFA-1, effective to bind the cell adhesion molecule such that said antibody binds the cell adhesion molecule and said treatment is effected.
