Claims
- 1. A focus detecting device for a camera system having a camera body and an interchangeable lens, said focus detecting device comprising:
- (a) focus condition detecting means located in said camera body for detecting a focus condition of an object to be photographed based on light passing through a lens optical system of said interchangeable lens;
- (b) first signal output means located in said camera body for outputting a first signal which is determined based on the result of focus detection by said focus condition detecting means and is used for driving said lens optical system toward an in-focus position;
- (c) second signal output means located in said interchangeable lens for outputting to said camera body a second signal representing whether focus detection by said focus condition detecting means is possible or not, and
- (d) control means for controlling said focus condition detecting means and said first signal output means based on the second signal such that operations of said focus condition detecting means and said first signal output means are permitted when the second signal represents a possibility of focus detection and operations of said focus condition detecting means and said first signal output means are inhibited when the second signal represents an impossibility of focus detection.
- 2. A focus detecting device for a camera system having a camera body and an interchangeable lens, said focus detecting device comprising:
- (a) first signal output means located in said camera body for outputting a first sighan which is determined based on light passing through a lens optical system of said interchangeable lens and is used for controlling said lens optical system to provide an in-focus position;
- (b) second signal output means located in said interchangeable lens for outputting a second signal representing whether operation of said first signal output means is possible or not, and
- (c) control means located in said camera body for controlling said first signal output means based on the second signal such that siad first signal output means is brought into operation when the second signal represents a possibility of operation of said first signal output means and said first signal output means is rendered inoperable when the second signal represents an impossibility of operation of said first signal output means.
- 3. An interchangeable lens attachable to a camera body which includes detecting means for detecting a focusing condition by said interchangeable lens based on light passing through said interchangeable lens, said interchangeable lens comprising:
- means for electrically interconnecting to said camera body, and
- signal output means for outputting to said camera body, on the interconnecting means, a signal representing whether a focusing condition detection by said detecting means is possible or not.
