Claims
- 1. A method for assembling a cardcage, comprising:providing a first cardcage side having a plurality of generally parallel and spaced apart card guide attachment locations forming at least one opening for airflow through said first the cardcage side, a first flange located generally perpendicular to a first end of the card guide attachment locations, and a second flange located distal from the first flange and generally perpendicular to a second end of the card guide attachment locations; and an airflow diverter for altering air flow through the cardcage, the airflow diverter coupled to the first cardcage side; providing a second cardcage side having a plurality of generally parallel and spaced apart card guide attachment locations forming at least one opening for airflow through the second cardcage side, a first flange located generally perpendicular to a first end of the card guide attachment locations and a second flange located distal from the first flange and generally perpendicular to a second end of the card guide attachment locations; and an airflow diverter for altering air flow through the cardcage, the airflow diverter coupled to the second cardcage side; providing a first endplate with at least two distally located alignment slots for providing alignment of said first and second card cage sides; providing a second endplate with at least two distally located alignment slots for providing alignment with each of the first and second cardcage sides; aligning the first cardcage side with the first endplate; attaching the first endplate to the first cardcage side; aligning the first cardcage side with the second endplate; attaching the second endplate to the first cardcage side; aligning the second cardcage side with the first endplate; attaching the first endplate to the second cardcage side; aligning the second cardcage side with the second endplate; attaching the second endplate to the second cardcage side; and connecting a backplane to the first cardcage side and the second cardcage side for operably engaging the at least one circuit card within the cardcage.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising engaging a plurality of card guides with said card guide attachment locations of said first and second integral cardcage sides.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising forming a card guide from said card guide attachment locations of said first and second integral cardcage sides.
- 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:providing first and second airflow entrance guides; attaching said first and second airflow entrance guides to said first integral cardcage side to direct airflow toward the cardcage.
- 5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:providing first and second airflow exit guides; attaching said first and second airflow exit guides to said second integral cardcage side to direct airflow away from the cardcage.
- 6. A method for assembling a cardcage, comprising:providing a first cardcage side having at least two alignment tabs, a plurality of generally parallel and spaced card guide attachment locations forming at least one opening for airflow through the first cardcage side, a first flange located generally perpendicular to a first end of the card guide attachment locations, and a second flange located distal from the first flange and generally perpendicular to a second end of the card guide attachment locations, and an airflow diverter for altering air flow through the cardcage, the airflow diverter coupled to the first cardcage side; a second cardcage side having at least two alignment tabs, a plurality of generally parallel and spaced card guide attachment locations forming at least one opening for airflow through the second cardcage side, a first flange located generally perpendicular to a first end of the card guide attachment locations and a second flange located distal from the first flange and generally perpendicular to a second end of the card guide attachment locations, an airflow diverter for altering airflow through the cardcage, the airflow diverter coupled to the second cardcage side; providing a first endplate with at least two distally located alignment slots for providing alignment with at least one of the alignment tabs of each of the first and second cardcage sides; providing a second endplate with at least two distally located alignment slots for providing alignment with at least one of the alignment tabs of each of the first and second cardcage sides; aligning the at least one of the alignment tabs with the first cardcage side with at least one of the alignment slots of the first endplate; attaching the first endplate to the first cardcage side; aligning the at least one alignment tab of the first cardcage side with at least one of the alignment slots of the second endplate; attaching the second endplate to the first cardcage side; aligning at least one of the alignment tabs of the second cardcage side with at least one of the alignment slots of the first endplate; attaching said first endplate to the second cardcage side; aligning the at least one alignment tab of the second cardcage side with at least one of the alignment slots of the second endplate; and attaching the second endplate to the second cardcage side.
- 7. The method of claim 6, further comprising engaging a plurality of card guides respectively with said plurality of card guide attachment locations of said first and second integral cardcage sides.
- 8. The method of claim 6, further comprising forming a plurality of integral card guides at said card guide attachment locations of said first and second integral cardcage sides.
- 9. The method of claim 6, further comprising:providing first and second airflow entrance guides; and attaching said first and second airflow entrance guides to said first integral cardcage side and said first and second endplates to direct airflow toward the cardcage.
- 10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:providing at least one airflow inlet divider plate; and attaching said at least one airflow inlet divider plate to said first and said second airflow entrance guides to direct airflow toward the cardcage while minimizing airflow interaction from multiple fans.
- 11. The method of claim 6, further comprising:providing said first and second airflow exit guides; and attaching said first and second airflow exit guides to said second integral cardcage side and to said first and said second endplates to direct airflow away from the cardcage.
- 12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:providing at least one airflow outlet divider plate; attaching said at least one outlet divider plate to said first and said second airflow exit guides to direct airflow away from the cardcage while minimizing airflow restrictions.
