- 6. The device of claim 5, wherein said moveable coin support platform is coupled to a guide rod that slides within a guide tube on said rigid cylindrical structure.
- 7. The device of claim 5, wherein said moveable coin platform is coupled to a retractable coil.
- 8. The device of claim 7, wherein said retractable coil is mounted at said closed end.
- 9. The device of claim 1, further including a tamper-evident security mechanism at said open end.
- 10. A device for holding a stack of coins of a certain denomination, comprising
a cylindrical structure having an inner diameter approximately the same as a diameter of the coins, said cylindrical structure having one open end and one closed end, said coins entering said open end and forming a coin stack within said cylindrical structure, said cylindrical structure having visual indicia for measuring a value of said coin stack, a tamper-evident security mechanism at said open end to hinder tampering of said coin stack within said cylindrical structure; and a coin support platform for lowering said coin stack from said open end of said cylindrical structure after said security mechanism is disengaged
- 11. The device of claim 10, wherein said tamper-evident security mechanism includes a security tie.
- 12. The device of claim 10, wherein said coin support platform is coupled to a retractable coil
- 13. The device of claim 12, wherein said retractable coil is mounted at said closed end
- 14. The device of claim 10, wherein said coin support platform is coupled to a guide rod that slides within a guide tube on said rigid cylindrical structure
- 15. A reservoir of coins for filling a coin cassette, comprising;
a tray having a plurality of receptacles, and a plurality of coin tubes, each of said plurality of coin tubes containing a coin stack and having an end permitting removal of said coin stack, each of said plurality of coin tubes fitting within one of said plurality of receptacles
- 16. The coin reservoir of claim 15, wherein each of said coin tubes has a closed end an open end, said coin stack being removed from said open end.
- 17. The coin reservoir of claim 15, wherein each of said coin tubes includes a tamper-evident security mechanism at said open end
- 18. The coin reservoir of claim 15, wherein said tray includes receptacles of various sizes to accommodate said coin tubes having various sizes
- 19. The coin reservoir of claim 15, wherein said plurality of coin tubes are held in an upright position
- 20. A method of filling a coin cassette, comprising:
loading an open end of a coin tube with coins so as to form a coin stack at a closed end of said tube, aligning said open end of a tube with a coin receptacle in said coin cassette, and transferring said coin stack from said coin tube to said coin receptacle of said coin cassette.
- 21. The method of claim 20, wherein said loading includes filling said coin tube with an automated coin processing machine.
- 22. The method of claim 20, wherein said transferring includes lowering said coin stack from said coin tube.
- 23. The method of claim 22, wherein said lowering includes manipulating a lever that is coupled to said platform.
- 24. The method of claim 22, wherein said lowering includes holding the coin stack on a platform and lowering said platform
- 25. The method of claim 20, further including securing said open end of said coin tube
- 26. The method of claim 20, wherein said aligning includes lowering said coin tube to fit within said coin receptacle.
- 27. A combination for processing coins and placing them into a stack, comprising
a coin processing machine for repetitiously distributing coins of a certain denomination into a coin chute, said coin chute having a cylindrical portion causing said coins to be positioned in a generally horizontal position, and a cylindrical structure having an inner diameter approximately the same as a diameter of said coins of said certain denomination, said cylindrical structure having one open end and one closed end, said open end being positioned below said cylindrical structure and receiving said coins to form a coin stack within said cylindrical structure.
- 28. The combination of claim 27, wherein said coin processing machine is a coin sorter for sorting coins into denominations
- 29. The combination of claim 27, wherein said cylindrical structure is mechanically coupled to said coin processing machine.
- 30. A method of filling a coin cassette for a coin dispenser, comprising
maintaining a coin reservoir comprising a plurality of coin tubes holding different coin denominations, each of said plurality of coin tubes containing a coin stack and having an open end permitting removal of said coin stack, determining which coin receptacle in said coin cassette is in need of coins, selecting one of said plurality of coin tubes to refill said coin receptacle in need of coins, aligning said open end of said selected coin tube with said coin receptacle in need of coins, and transferring said coin stack from said coin tube to said coin receptacle of said coin cassette
- 31. The method of claim 30, wherein said coin tube is translucent.
- 32. A system for automatically loading a coin cassette, comprising
a coin machine for processing coins and sending coins of a particular denomination to a coin chute, said coin chute having a generally cylindrical region; and a coin cassette having at least one receptacle for receiving said particular denomination, said coin cassette being positioned below said coin chute such that coins exiting said generally cylindrical section enter said at least one receptacle to form a coin stack
- 33. A method for loading a coin cassette, comprising;
positioning said coin cassette below a coin processing machine; aligning a coin chute of said coin processing machine with a coin receptacle in said coin cassette, and processing coins in said coin processing machine so that a particular denomination enters said coin receptacle of said coin cassette
