Claims
- 1. A collagen sponge prepared by treating collagen-containing human or animal tissue with pepsin to form a pepsin-treated collagen, dialyzing said pepsin-treated collagen at a temperature in the range of 4.degree. C. to 25.degree. C. with a phosphate:buffered isotonic solution containing a basic amino acid at a concentration of 5 to 20 mmols/l to form a collagen solution, and heating said solution to precipitate sponge-forming collagen fibrillae therefrom.
- 2. A collagen sponge as defined in claim 1 containing coagulation factors VIII and XIII.
