Currently, a phase-based positioning technology has been widely applied to various satellite systems (for example, BeiDou and a global positioning system (global positioning system, GPS)), and positioning accuracy of the phase-based positioning technology can reach a centimeter level. The phase-based positioning technology may also be applied to another communication system. For example, the phase-based positioning technology is introduced into a wireless cellular communication system, to help the wireless cellular communication system to implement centimeter-level positioning and build positioning competitiveness of the wireless cellular communication system.
Abasic principle of the phase-based positioning technology is as follows: A transmit end device sends a carrier signal. The carrier signal arrives at a receive end device after a specific propagation delay. A phase difference between a phase of the carrier signal received by the receive end device and that of a local oscillator signal of the receive end device is referred to as a phase that is of the carrier signal of the transmit end device and that is measured by the receive end device. The phase includes information about the propagation delay between the transmit end and the receive end. Therefore, the receive end device or a third-party device can obtain information about a distance between the transmit end and the receive end through calculation according to a phase resolving algorithm, and further perform positioning resolving to obtain a location of the transmit end device. In the phase-based positioning technology, a phase usually needs to be continuously tracked, to improve positioning accuracy.
In a solution in which the phase-based positioning technology is used for positioning, how to improve positioning accuracy is a problem worth considering.
This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus, to improve positioning accuracy.

A first communication apparatus measures at least one first positioning reference signal from at least one second communication apparatus, to obtain at least one first phase. The first communication apparatus sends first phase information to a third communication apparatus, where the first phase information includes the at least one first phase, or the first phase information is determined based on the at least one first phase. Then, the first communication apparatus measures the at least one second positioning reference signal from the at least one second communication apparatus, to obtain the at least one second phase. The first communication apparatus sends the second phase information to the third communication apparatus, where the second phase information includes the at least one second phase, or the second phase information is determined based on the at least one second phase. For example, if the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated, the third communication apparatus may position the first communication apparatus or the at least one second communication apparatus based on both the first phase information and the second phase information. For example, if the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated, the third communication apparatus may position the first communication apparatus or the at least one second communication apparatus based on the first phase information only or the second phase information only. Therefore, the problem that positioning accuracy for positioning, by the third communication apparatus, the first communication apparatus or the at least one second communication apparatus is limited because correlation between the first phase information and the second phase information is difficult to be ensured due to the phase jump or the phase loss in the process in which the first communication apparatus tracks the phase is avoided.
Embodiments of this application provide a communication method and a communication apparatus, to improve positioning accuracy.

The following describes an access network device and a terminal device in this application.
The access network device may be a device in a wireless network. For example, the access network device is an apparatus deployed in a radio access network for providing a wireless communication function for the terminal device. The access network device may be a radio access network (radio access network, RAN) node that connects the terminal device to a wireless network.
The access network device includes but is not limited to: an evolved NodeB (evolved NodeB, eNB), a radio network controller (radio network controller, RNC), a NodeB (NodeB, NB), a base station controller (base station controller, BSC), a base transceiver station (base transceiver station, BTS), a home NodeB (for example, a home evolved NodeB, or a home NodeB, HNB), a baseband unit (baseband unit, BBU), an access point (access point, AP) in a wireless fidelity (wireless fidelity, Wi-Fi) system, a wireless relay node, a wireless backhaul node, or a transmission point (transmission point, TP). Alternatively, the access network device may be an access network device in a 5G mobile communication system, for example, a next generation NodeB (next generation NodeB, gNB), a transmission reception point (transmission reception point, TRP), or a transmission point (transmission point, TP) in a new radio (new radio, NR) system; or one or a group of (including a plurality of antenna panels) antenna panels of a base station in a 5G mobile communication system. Alternatively, the network device may be a network node that forms a gNB or a transmission point, for example, a baseband unit (baseband unit, BBU) or a distributed unit (distributed unit, DU). In some possible specific forms of the network device shown above, the access network device shown above is a transceiver node, and the transceiver node may also be referred to as a transmission reception point (transmission reception point, TRP). Optionally, the access network device may include a plurality of transmit antennas and/or a plurality of receive antennas.
In some deployments, the gNB may include a central unit (central unit, CU) and a DU. The gNB may further include an active antenna unit (active antenna unit, AAU). The CU implements some functions of the gNB, and the DU implements some functions of the gNB. For example, the CU is responsible for processing a non-real-time protocol and service, and implements functions of a radio resource control (radio resource control, RRC) layer and a packet data convergence protocol (packet data convergence protocol, PDCP) layer. The DU is responsible for processing a physical layer protocol and a real-time service, and implements functions of a radio link control (radio link control, RLC) layer, a media access control (media access control, MAC) layer, and a physical (physical, PHY) layer. The AAU implements some physical layer processing functions, a radio frequency processing function, and a function related to an active antenna. Information at the RRC layer is finally changed to information at the PHY layer, or is changed from information at the PHY layer. Therefore, in this architecture, higher layer signaling (for example, RRC layer signaling) may also be considered to be sent by the DU, or sent by the DU and the AAU. It may be understood that the network device may be a device including one or more of a CU node, a DU node, and an AAU node. In addition, the CU may be classified into a device in an access network (radio access network, RAN), or the CU may be classified into a device in a core network (core network, CN). This is not limited in this application.
The terminal device may be a wireless terminal device that can receive scheduling and indication information of an access network device. The wireless terminal device may be a device that provides voice and/or data connectivity for a user, a handheld device with a wireless connection function, or another processing device connected to a wireless modem.
The terminal device is also referred to as user equipment (user equipment, UE), a mobile station (mobile station, MS), a mobile terminal (mobile terminal, MT), or the like, and is a device that includes a wireless communication function (providing voice/data connectivity for a user), for example, a handheld device or an in-vehicle device that has a wireless connection function. Currently, examples of some terminal devices are: a mobile phone (mobile phone), a tablet computer, a notebook computer, a palmtop computer, a train, a car, an airplane, a mobile internet device (mobile internet device, MID), a wearable device, a virtual reality (virtual reality, VR) device, an augmented reality (augmented reality, AR) device, a wireless terminal in industrial control (industrial control), a wireless terminal in the internet of vehicles, a wireless terminal in self driving (self driving), a wireless terminal in a smart grid (smart grid), a wireless terminal in transportation safety (transportation safety), and a wireless terminal in smart city (smart city). For example, the wireless terminal in the internet of vehicles may be a vehicle-mounted device, an entire vehicle device, a vehicle-mounted module, a vehicle, or the like. The wireless terminal in industrial control may be a robot or the like. Optionally, the terminal device may include a plurality of transmit antennas and/or a plurality of receive antennas.
A communication system to which this application is applicable includes a first communication apparatus, at least one second communication apparatus, and a third communication apparatus. The following describes some possible implementations of the first communication apparatus, the at least one second communication apparatus, and the third communication apparatus.
1. The first communication apparatus is a terminal device, the at least one second communication apparatus is at least one access network device, and the third communication apparatus is a location management device.
2. The first communication apparatus is a terminal device, and both the at least one second communication apparatus and the third communication apparatus are access network devices.
In this implementation, the third communication apparatus may be one of the at least one second communication apparatus. In other words, one of the access network devices positions the terminal device.

If phase continuity cannot be maintained, a phase jump or a phase loss may occur, and consequently, positioning accuracy is low. This application provides corresponding technical solutions, to improve positioning accuracy. For details, refer to related descriptions in the following embodiments.

For example, the first phase information includes P third phase differences. Optionally, the first communication apparatus is a first terminal device, and the at least one second communication apparatus is at least one RSU or at least one second terminal device. Both the at least one first positioning reference signal and the at least one second positioning reference signal are sidelink positioning reference signals (sidelink positioning reference signal, SL-PRS).
Optionally, if the first communication apparatus is a terminal device, and the at least one second communication apparatus is at least one access network device, both the at least one first positioning reference signal and the at least one second positioning reference signal are downlink positioning reference signals.

It should be noted that the first communication apparatus may report both the first phase information and the second phase information, or may separately report the first phase information and the second phase information. This is not specifically limited in this application.
It should be noted that, optionally, the first phase information and the second phase information may be phase information separately obtained by the first communication apparatus through measurement at two different moments. For example, the first phase information is obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring the at least one first positioning reference signal at a moment 1. The second phase information is obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring the at least one second positioning reference signal at a moment 2. In other words, the first phase information and the second phase information are separately obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring positioning reference signals that are of the at least one second communication apparatus and that are received at two different moments. For example, the first communication apparatus receives at least one first positioning reference signal at a moment 1, and measures the at least one first positioning reference signal to obtain the first phase information. The second communication apparatus receives the at least one second positioning reference signal at a moment 2, and measures the at least one second positioning reference signal to obtain the second phase information.
Optionally, the first phase information is sent by the first communication apparatus to the second communication apparatus at a first moment. The second phase information is sent by the first communication apparatus to the third communication apparatus at a second moment. The first moment is one or more moments before the second moment. In other words, the first phase information is phase information reported by the first communication apparatus to the third communication apparatus at a moment before the first moment.
The following describes some possible implementations in which the first communication apparatus obtains the second phase information based on the at least one second phase.
1. The at least one second communication apparatus includes a plurality of second communication apparatuses. Specifically, the plurality of second communication apparatuses include a reference communication apparatus and at least one measurement communication apparatus.
Optionally, the at least one second communication apparatus sends at least one second positioning reference signal at a moment 2. The second phase information includes a phase difference between a second phase obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring a second positioning reference signal sent by the reference communication apparatus at the moment 2 and a second phase obtained by measuring a second positioning reference signal sent by the at least one measurement communication apparatus at the moment 2.
For example, the at least one measurement communication apparatus includes N measurement communication apparatuses, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 1. The second phase information includes N fourth phase differences. Specifically, the first communication apparatus determines the N fourth phase differences based on the at least one second phase. 2. The at least one second communication apparatus includes one or more second communication apparatuses. The following uses one of the second communication apparatuses as an example to describe the second phase information. The same is applied to another second communication apparatus.
Optionally, the second communication apparatus sends the second positioning reference signal to the first communication apparatus at a plurality of moments. The second phase information includes a phase difference between second phases obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring second positioning reference signals sent by the second communication apparatus at a plurality of moments; or the second phase information includes at least one fourth cumulative phase difference; or the second phase information includes at least one fourth cumulative phase difference rate.
The at least one fourth cumulative phase difference includes a cumulative amount, in terms of time, of a phase difference between second phases obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring second positioning reference signals sent by the second communication apparatus at different moments. The at least one fourth cumulative phase difference rate includes: a cumulative amount, in terms of unit time, of a phase difference between second phases obtained by the first communication apparatus by measuring second positioning reference signals sent by the second communication apparatus at different moments.

The information about phase correlation between the first phase information and the second phase information specifically includes: whether a phase jump, a phase loss, a phase jitter, or the like occurs in a time interval between a moment at which the first communication apparatus measures the at least one first positioning reference signal and a moment at which the first communication apparatus measures the at least one second positioning reference signal.
If the phase jump, the phase loss, or the phase jitter occurs on the first communication apparatus in the time interval, the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated. In other words, the first communication apparatus cannot continuously track a phase by using the at least one first positioning reference signal and the at least one second positioning reference signal. If the phase jump, the phase loss, or the phase jitter does not occur during measurement on the first communication apparatus in the time interval, the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. Actually, the second phase is 20°. However, due to the phase jump, the second phase measured by the first communication apparatus is 40°. Therefore, due to the phase jump, the first communication apparatus cannot track an actual change of the phase, thereby affecting positioning accuracy of the third communication apparatus.
The following describes some possible causes of the phase jump (also referred to as the phase loss or the phase jitter) that occurs on the first communication apparatus in the time interval.
Cause 1: A receive antenna used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with a receive antenna used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal.
For example, as shown in
In this case, that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated is caused by transmit antenna switching in a process in which the first communication apparatus receives the at least one first positioning reference signal and the at least one second positioning reference signal. Specifically, a phase deviation introduced by the transmit antenna between the first phase information and the second phase information may be compensable. The third communication apparatus may compensate for the second phase information based on a location of a transmit antenna 1 and a location of a transmit antenna 2.
Cause 2: A radio frequency initial phase of a radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with a radio frequency initial phase of a radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal.
For example, the first communication apparatus uses a same radio frequency link in the time interval, but radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link are different at different moments due to radio frequency shutdown or hardware restart occurring on the first communication apparatus in the time interval, or radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link are different at different moments due to an external environment. Therefore, the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal. For another example, receive antenna switching occurs on the first communication apparatus in the time interval, and different receive antennas are connected to different radio frequency links. Due to a hardware cause, the different radio frequency links have different radio frequency initial phases. Therefore, the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal. A phase jump is caused by the different radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link. For this case, if the first communication apparatus does not indicate the first information to the third communication apparatus, the third communication apparatus considers that a phase change caused by the different radio frequency initial phases is caused by motion of the terminal device, thereby reducing positioning accuracy. Therefore, in this application, when the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal, the first communication apparatus may consider that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated. The first communication apparatus may indicate, to the third communication apparatus, that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated, thereby improving positioning accuracy.
It may be understood that a cause why the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated is that a phase error introduced by the radio frequency link and/or the transmit antenna used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with a phase error introduced by the radio frequency link and/or the transmit antenna used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal. In other words, a phase error group (phase error group, PEG) of the first communication apparatus changes. The phase error is not compensable.
Cause 3: A receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with a receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal.
For example, as shown in
Because a phase needs to be continuously tracked during phase positioning, in a tracking process, because the terminal device moves, a relative location relationship between the terminal device and the base station changes, and the receive beam of the terminal device also changes. For example, at a moment 1, the strongest beam used by the terminal device to receive the positioning reference signal is a receive beam 1. Therefore, the terminal device receives, at the moment 1 via the receive beam 1, the at least one first positioning reference signal sent by the base station. At the moment 1, the terminal device moves to another location. In this case, received signal energy of the receive beam 1 is no longer strongest in that of all receive beams. Received signal energy of a receive beam 2 is strongest in received signal energy of all the receive beams. Therefore, the terminal device may receive, at a moment 2 via the receive beam 2, the at least one second positioning reference signal sent by the base station, and perform phase measurement.

When the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal is consistent with the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal, the first communication apparatus may consider that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated, and the first communication apparatus may indicate, to the third communication apparatus, that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
Cause 4: A phase measurement failure occurs in a process in which the first communication apparatus measures the at least one second positioning reference signal.
In the cause 4, a phase jump or loss is caused due to the phase measurement failure, that is, the first communication apparatus cannot continuously track a phase. Therefore, when the phase measurement failure occurs in a process in which the first communication apparatus measures the at least second positioning reference signal, the first communication apparatus may consider that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated. The first communication apparatus may indicate, to the third communication apparatus, that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated, thereby improving positioning accuracy.
Optionally, correlation may also be referred to as consistency or continuity. The following related descriptions may be replaced with each other. This is not specifically limited in this application.
The following describes some possible implementations of the first information.
1. The first information is first indication information. The first indication information indicates whether the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
For example, when a value of the first indication information is “1”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. When a value of the first indication information is “0”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
For example, when a value of the first indication information is “true (true)”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. When a value of the first indication information is “false (false)”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
For example, when a value of the first indication information is “yes”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. When a value of the first indication information is “no”, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
2. The first information is information about a second label correlated with the second phase information. If the second label correlated with the second phase information is the same as a first label correlated with the first phase information, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated; or if the second label correlated with the second phase information is different from the first label correlated with the first phase information, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
The following describes two possible implementations of the first label and the second label.
1. The first label is a first time label correlated with the first phase information, and the second label is a second time label correlated with the second phase information.
Specifically, if the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated, the first phase information and the second phase information may be correlated with a same time label. If the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated, the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated with different time labels. Therefore, the third communication apparatus determines correlation between the first phase information and the second phase information by using the time label correlated with the first phase information and the time label correlated with the second phase information.
2. The first label is a first angle label correlated with the first phase information, and the second label is a second angle label correlated with the second phase information. Alternatively, the first label is a first beam label correlated with the first phase information, and the second label is a second beam label correlated with the second phase information.
In a possible implementation, the first angle label identifies an angle of arrival at which the at least one first positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus, and the second angle label identifies an angle of arrival at which the at least one second positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus.
Each angle label corresponds to a range of an angle of arrival. Each beam label corresponds to a direction range of a receive beam.
If the first angle label is the same as the second angle label, the angle of arrival at which the at least one first positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus is approximately considered to be the same as the angle of arrival at which the at least one second positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus. In this case, the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
For example, Table 1 shows a correspondence between an angle label and an angle of arrival. A range of an angle of arrival corresponding to an angle label 1 is 10° to 20°. A range of an angle of arrival corresponding to an angle label 2 is 20° to 30°.
For example, in the scenario described in the foregoing cause 3, if the first angle label is the same as the second angle label, it may be understood that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the first angle label is different from the second angle label, it may be understood that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated. Further, the third communication apparatus may perform phase deviation compensation on the first phase information based on an angle of arrival corresponding to the first angle label. Alternatively, the third communication apparatus may perform phase deviation compensation on the second phase information based on an angle of arrival corresponding to the second angle label.
In another possible implementation, each angle label corresponds to one phase deviation. If different pieces of phase information are correlated with a same angle label, it indicates that the pieces of phase information are correlated.
For example, Table 2 shows a correspondence between an angle label and a phase deviation.
For example, in the scenario described in the foregoing cause 3, if the first angle label is the same as the second angle label, it may be understood that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the first angle label is different from the second angle label, it may be understood that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated. Further, the third communication apparatus may compensate for the first phase information based on a phase deviation corresponding to the first angle label. Alternatively, the third communication apparatus may compensate for the second phase information based on a phase deviation corresponding to the second angle label.
The first beam label identifies a receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal. The second beam label identifies a receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal.
If the first beam label is the same as the second beam label, a direction of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal may be approximately considered to be the same as a direction of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal. In this case, the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
For example, Table 3 shows a correspondence between a beam label and a direction of a receive beam. A range of an angle of arrival corresponding to a beam label 1 is 10° to 20°. A range of an angle of arrival corresponding to a beam label 2 is 20° to 30°.
It should be noted that, optionally, in a digital radio frequency architecture, the first communication apparatus may report the first angle label and the second angle label. In an analog radio frequency architecture, the first communication apparatus may report the first beam label and the second beam label.
3. The first information includes information about an angle of arrival at which the at least one second positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus, or beam information of a receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal.
The beam information includes at least one of the following: a beam direction and an index of the receive beam.
In this implementation, the third communication apparatus may obtain information about an angle of arrival at which the at least one first positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus. Alternatively, the third communication apparatus obtains beam information of a receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal. The third communication apparatus may determine, based on the information about the angle of arrival at which the at least one second positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus and the information about the angle of arrival at which the at least one first positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus, whether the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. Alternatively, the third communication apparatus may determine, based on the beam information of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal and the beam information of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal, whether the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
Optionally, the first information includes consistency assistance information, and the consistency assistance information assists the third communication apparatus in determining correlation between the first phase information and the second phase information. The consistency assistance information may be the information about the angle of arrival, the beam information, or other information used for assisting the third communication apparatus in determining correlation between the first phase information and the second phase information. This is not specifically limited in this application.
For example, in a digital radio frequency architecture, the third communication apparatus obtains an angle of arrival 1 at which the at least one first positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus and an angle of arrival 2 at which the at least one second positioning reference signal arrives at the first communication apparatus. If the angle of arrival 1 is the same as the angle of arrival 2 or a difference between the angle of arrival 1 and the angle of arrival 2 is less than or equal to a specific threshold, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the difference between the angle of arrival 1 and the angle of arrival 2 is greater than the specific threshold, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
For example, in an analog radio frequency architecture, the third communication apparatus obtains a direction 1 of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one first positioning reference signal and a direction 2 of the receive beam used by the first communication apparatus to receive the at least one second positioning reference signal. If the direction 1 is the same as the direction 2 or an angle difference between the direction 1 and the direction 2 is less than or equal to a specific threshold, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the angle difference between the direction 1 and the direction 2 is greater than the specific threshold, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
4. The first information includes third cause information. The third cause information indicates whether the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated.
The following describes some possible implementations of the third cause information.
1. The third cause information includes: information about whether radio frequency shutdown occurs on the first communication apparatus, or information about whether hardware restart occurs on the first communication apparatus.
In this implementation, for details, refer to related description of the foregoing cause 2. If the third cause information includes information indicating that radio frequency shutdown or hardware restart occurs on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the third cause information includes information indicating that radio frequency shutdown or hardware restart does not occur on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
2. The third cause information includes information about whether receive antenna switching occurs on the first communication apparatus.
In this implementation, for details, refer to related description of the foregoing cause 1. If the third cause information includes information indicating that receive antenna switching occurs on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the third cause information includes information indicating that receive antenna switching does not occur on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
3. The third cause information includes information about whether receive beam switching occurs on the first communication apparatus.
In this implementation, for details, refer to related description of the foregoing cause 3. If the third cause information includes information indicating that receive beam switching occurs on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are correlated. If the third cause information includes information indicating that receive beam switching does not occur on the first communication apparatus, it indicates that the first phase information and the second phase information are not correlated.
4. The third cause information includes information about whether a measurement failure occurs on the first communication apparatus.

However, in a sending process of the terminal device, radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link are different at different moments due to radio frequency shutdown or hardware restart, or radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link are different at different moments due to an external environment. Therefore, the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the at least one second communication apparatus to send the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the at least one second communication apparatus to send the at least one second positioning reference signal. A phase jump is caused by the different radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link. In this case, it may be understood that a phase measured by the base station carries a phase error because the radio frequency initial phases of the radio frequency link are different.
Therefore, when the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the at least one second communication apparatus to send the at least one first positioning reference signal is inconsistent with the radio frequency initial phase of the radio frequency link used by the at least one second communication apparatus to send the at least one second positioning reference signal, the at least one second communication apparatus may consider that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are not correlated.
Cause 3: The at least one second communication apparatus fails to send the at least one second positioning reference signal.
For example, the first communication apparatus is a base station, and the at least one second communication apparatus is a terminal device. The terminal device fails to send the at least one second positioning reference signal. As a result, the base station cannot continuously trace a phase.
Therefore, when the at least one second communication apparatus fails to send the at least one second positioning reference signal, the at least one second communication apparatus may consider that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are not correlated.
The following describes some possible implementations of the second information.
1. The second information is second indication information, and the second indication information indicates whether the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are correlated.
For example, when a value of the second indication information is “1”, it indicates that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are correlated. When a value of the second indication information is “0”, it indicates that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are not correlated.
For example, when a value of the second indication information is “true (true)”, it indicates that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are correlated. 2. The second information is fourth cause information. The fourth cause information indicates whether the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are correlated.
The following describes some possible implementations of the fourth cause information.
1. The fourth cause information includes information about whether radio frequency shutdown occurs on the at least one second communication apparatus, or information about whether hardware restart occurs on the at least one second communication apparatus.
In this implementation, for details, refer to related description of the foregoing cause 2. If the fourth cause information includes information indicating that radio frequency shutdown or hardware restart occurs on the at least one second communication apparatus, it indicates that the transmit phase of the at least one first positioning reference signal and the transmit phase of the at least one second positioning reference signal are correlated.
