Claims
- 1. A cold drawn film having a tensile strength of not less than 5.0 kg/mm.sup.2 and a haze of not more than 4.0%, which film comprises a homogeneous blend of the specific combination of components, namely the combination of (A)+(B)+(C), wherein
- (A) is at least one selected from the group consisting of low-density polyethylene, and low-density polyethylene admixed with copolymers of ethylene with vinyl ester monomers, unsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acids and alkyl esters of said monocarboxylic acids which are all copolymerizable with ethylene,
- (B) is an elastomer having a density of not more than 0.91 g/cm.sup.3 and made of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer, and
- (C) is at least one selected from the group consisting of crystalline polypropylene, high-density polyethylene and crystalline polybutene-1, wherein the components of the composition are in amounts such as to satisfy 0.90.gtoreq.B/(A+B).gtoreq.0.05 and 0.05.gtoreq.C/(A+B).gtoreq.2.0 in terms in weight ratio.
- 2. The film according to claim 1, wherein the component (A) is low-density polyethylene admixed with at least one selected from the group consisting of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-acrylic acid copolymers, ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer, ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymers and ethylene-methyl methacrylate copolymer.
- 3. The film according to claim 1, wherein the component (A) is low-density polyethylene admixed with ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
- 4. The film according to claim 3, wherein the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer has a vinyl acetate group content in the range of from 3 to 30% by weight.
- 5. The film according to claim 1, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has an ethylene group content of not more than 90 mol% and not less than 20 mol%.
- 6. The film according to claim 1, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has an ethylene group content of not more than 90 mol% and not less than 40 mol%.
- 7. The film according to claim 1, wherein the elastomer as the component (B) is a non-rigid copolymer having a Vicat softening point of not more than 80.degree. C. and a degree of crystallization of not more than 30%, wherein the .alpha.-olefin component contained therein is at least one member selected from the group consisting of .alpha.-olefins having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms.
- 8. The film according to claim 1, wherein the elastomer as the component (B) is a random copolymer wherein the .alpha.-olefin component contained therein is selected from the group consisting of propylene and butene-1, and (B) is a thermoplastic elastomer.
- 9. The film according to claim 1, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has a polyene copolymerized in addition to the main components of ethylene and .alpha.-olefin.
- 10. The film according to claim 9, wherein the polyene contains not more than 5 mol% of a non-conjugate diene selested from the group consisting of hexadiene and norbornene derivatives.
- 11. The film according to claim 1, wherein the component (C) is a rigid polymer having a Vicat softening point of not less than 100.degree. C.
- 12. The film according to claim 1, wherein the component (C) is either a crystalline polypropylene or a crystalline copolymer of propylene with ethylene contained in an amount of not more than 10 mol%.
- 13. The film according to claim 1, wherein the components of the composition are in amounts such as to satisfy 0.70.gtoreq.B/(A+B).gtoreq.0.07 and 0.10.gtoreq.C/(A+B).gtoreq.1.0 in terms of weight ratio.
- 14. The film according to claim 1, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has an insoluble gel content of from 60 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 10.
- 15. The film according to claim 1, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has an insoluble gel content of from 50 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 5.
- 16. The film according to claim 1, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has been crosslinked and has an insoluble gel content of from 40 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 0.2.
- 17. The film according to claim 1, wherein the film has a heat shrink tension of not less than 50 g/mm.sup.2.
- 18. The film according to claim 1, wherein the temperature at which the film exhibits a heat shrinkage of 20% is not more than 85.degree. C.
- 19. The film according to claim 1, wherein the temperature at which the film exhibits a heat shrinkage of 20% is not more than 75.degree. C.
- 20. The film according to claim 1, wherein the film has a Haze of not more than 3.0%.
- 21. The film of claim 1 wherein component (A) is low-density polyethylene.
- 22. The film according to claim 21, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has an ethylene group content of not more than 90 mol% and not less than 20 mol%.
- 23. The film according to claim 21, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has an ethylene group content of not more than 90 mol% and not less than 40 mol%.
- 24. The film according to claim 21, wherein the elastomer as the component (B) is a non-rigid copolymer having a Vicat softening point of not more than 80.degree. C. and a degree of crystallization of not more than 30%, wherein the .alpha.-olefin component contained therein is at least one member selected from the group consisting of .alpha.-olefins having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms.
- 25. The film according to claim 21, wherein the elastomer as the component (B) is a random copolymer wherein the .alpha.-olefin component contained therein is selected from the group consisting of propylene and butene-1, and (B) is a thermoplastic elastomer.
- 26. The film according to claim 21, wherein the ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer as the component (B) has a polyene copolymerized in addition to the main components of ethylene and .alpha.-olefin.
- 27. The film according to claim 25, wherein the polyene contains not more than 5 mol% of a non-conjugate diene selected from the group consisting of hexadiene and norbornene derivatives.
- 28. The film according to claim 21, wherein the component (C) is a rigid polymer having a Vicat softening point of not less than 100.degree. C.
- 29. The film according to claim 21, wherein the component (C) is either a crystalline polypropylene or a crystalline copolymer of propylene with ethylene contained in an amount of not more than 10 mol%.
- 30. The film according to claim 21, wherein the components of the composition are in amounts such as to satisfy 0.70.gtoreq.B/(A+B).gtoreq.0.07 and 0.10.gtoreq.C/(A+B).gtoreq.1.0 in terms of weight ratio.
- 31. The film according to claim 21, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has an insoluble gel content of from 60 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 10.
- 32. The film according to claim 21, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has an insoluble gel content of from 50 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 5.
- 33. The film according to claim 21, wherein the composition which constitutes the film has been crosslinked and has an insoluble gel content of from 40 to 0% by weight in boiling xylene and a melt index of not more than 0.2.
- 34. The film according to claim 21, wherein the film has a heat shrink tension of not less than 50 g/mm.sup.2.
- 35. The film according to claim 21, wherein the temperature at which the film exhibits a heat shrinkage of 20% is not more than 85.degree. C.
- 36. The film according to claim 21, wherein the temperature at which the film exhibits a heat shrinkage of 20% is not more than 75.degree. C.
- 37. The film according to claim 21, wherein the film has a Haze of not more than 3.0%.
