Claims
- 1. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence or the full complement of the entire length of the polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 2. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1.
- 3. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 2.
- 4. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 5. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 99% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 6. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence or the full complement of the entire length of the polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence comprises SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 7. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 6.
- 8. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 7.
- 9. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 8 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 10. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 6 encoding a fusion polypeptide, wherein the fusion polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 11. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence hybridizes to the full complement of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the hybridization conditions include incubation at 42° C. in a solution comprising: 50% formamide, 5× SSC (150 mM NaCl, 15 mM trisodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH7.6), 5× Denhardt's solution, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 micrograms/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA, followed by washing in 0.1 × SSC at 65° C.; and, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 12. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 11, wherein the first polynucleotide sequence is at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA and wherein the polynucleotide sequence detects Streptococcus pneumoniae by hybridization.
- 13. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO:2, and wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA.
- 14. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 13.
- 15. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 14.
- 16. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 15 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 17. The isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 13 encoding a fusion polypeptide, wherein the fusion polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:2.
- 18. An isolated polynucleotide segment comprising a polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence encodes a polypeptide consisting of SEQ ID NO:2, and wherein the polynucleotide sequence is not genomic DNA.
- 19. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide segment of claim 18.
- 20. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 19.
- 21. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising culturing the host cell of claim 20 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide consists of SEQ ID NO:2.
