Claims
- 1. An apparatus for controlling the conveyance of particulate material on a first conveyor belt, said first conveyor belt being driven by a first drive means, said apparatus comprising:a) a frame having at least one longitudinal member; b) at least two rotating elements spaced apart along said frame; and, c) an endless belt extending between and around said rotating elements; d) a second drive means connected to at least one of said at least two rotating elements for driving said endless belt; said apparatus being positioned above and proximal to said first conveyor, wherein said endless belt extends along a portion of said first conveyor and wherein said particulate material flows between said endless belt and said first conveyor and wherein said apparatus is pivotally connected to said first conveyor belt whereby said apparatus is movable between a raised position and a lowered position, wherein, when in said lowered position, said apparatus rests on said first conveyor.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 further including a panel located above said endless belt for preventing particulate material attached to said belt from being discharged off the first conveyor.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said first and second drive means comprise hydraulic motors.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said rotating elements comprise pairs of wheels mounted on axles.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said endless belt includes a pair of channels on an inner surface thereof, said channels being adapted to receive said wheels and to maintain alignment of said endless belt on said wheels.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein movement of said apparatus is limited by a tensioning member connecting said apparatus to said first conveyor.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein the first and second drive means are driven at the same speed.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said first and second drive means are supplied by a common hydraulic supply line.
- 9. A system for discharging material from a vehicle, said system comprising:a material holding container mounted on said vehicle; a first conveyor mounted on said vehicle for delivering said material to a desired location remote from said vehicle, said first conveyor being driven by a first drive means; a means for transferring said material from said container to said first conveyor; an apparatus for controlling said material on said first conveyor, said apparatus comprising: a) a frame; b) at least two shafts mounted on said frame and spaced apart from each other; and p2 c) an endless conveyor belt extending between and around said shafts; wherein said apparatus is securely mounted on said first conveyor and connected thereto with a pivoting arm whereby said apparatus movable between a raised position and a lowered position with respect to said first conveyor, and wherein, when in said lowered position, said endless belt rests on said first conveyor.
- 10. The system of claim 9 wherein movement of said apparatus is limited by a tensioning member connecting said apparatus to said first conveyor.
- 11. The system of claim 9 wherein said endless belt is frictionally driven by said first conveyor.
- 12. The system of claim 9 further including a second drive means attached to said apparatus for driving said endless belt.
- 13. The system of claim 12 wherein said first and second drive means comprise hydraulic motors.
- 14. The system of claim 13 wherein said first and second drive means are powered by common hydraulic supply lines.
- 15. The system of claim 14 wherein said first and second drive means are driven at the same speed.
- 16. The system of claim 9 wherein said means for transferring comprises a second conveyor for receiving the material from said container and depositing on said first conveyor.
- 17. The system of claim 9 wherein said at least two shafts are provided with wheels for supporting said endless belt.
- 18. The system of claim 17 wherein said endless belt includes a pair of channels on an inner surface thereof, said channels being adapted to receive said wheels and to maintain alignment of said endless belt on said wheels.
