Claims
- 1. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- process means for forming an image on a recording material, said process means including reciprocable means for scanning an original document;
- detecting means for detecting a start position of said reciprocable means to start the reciprocation of said reciprocable means for scanning from the start position;
- setting means, in response to said detecting means, for setting before the start of the reciprocation, said reciprocable means to the start position if it is not at the start position;
- digital counting means for counting a predetermined period of time required for preliminary operation before image formation but after said process means is instructed to start; and
- starting means for starting the scanning operation of said reciprocable means in response to a signal from said detecting means representing said start position, and for outputting a latch signal during the time of operation for the scanning operation of said reciprocable means in response to completion of the counting of the predetermined time period by said counting means, wherein said reciprocable means is kept at said start position in accordance with said setting means during said preliminary operation for image formation.
- 2. An image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said reciprocal means starts to move for scanning in accordance with both a signal representing the start position and an image form instruction signal.
- 3. An image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said preliminary operation is the pre-rotation of a rotatable medium on which an image is formed for effecting pre-cleaning of said medium.
- 4. An image formation apparatus comprising:
- process means for forming, in a number of operations, an image on a recording material, said process means including a movable member for image formation;
- means for generating serial pulses;
- digital control means for generating, during generation of said serial pulses, a plurality of latch signals for controlling the operation of said process means and including means for counting said pulses to generate some of said latch signals, one of said latch signals being generated to control the operation of said movable member when a predetermined number of pulses has been counted;
- power switch means for supplying power to said apparatus;
- means for generating a timer signal having a predetermined digital level during a predetermined period of time at an initial stage after actuation of said power switch means; and
- circuits for connecting said timer signal generating means to a reset port of said digital control means for resetting said digital control means to a predetermined electrical state in accordance with said timer signal in response to the actuation of said power switch means and for inhibiting the generation of said latch signals during said predetermined period of time to prevent mismovement of said movable member at the initial stage after actuation of said power switch means.
- 5. An image formation apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said movable member is a reciprocal member for scanning an original document.
- 6. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- process means for scanning an original document, and for processing the scanning image, said process means including a reciprocable member for effecting the scanning;
- detecting means for detecting a start position of said reciprocable member to start the reciprocation of said reciprocable member for the scanning from the start position;
- digital control means for controlling the movement of said reciprocable member and other operations of said process means, said control means starting the scanning of said reciprocable member in accordance with the start position detection and a process start instruction to said process means when said start instruction is input to said digital control means, said digital control means including setting means, in response to said detecting means, for setting said reciprocable member before the start of the reciprocation of said reciprocable member to the start position if it is not at the start position;
- power switch means for supplying power to said apparatus;
- means for generating a reset signal in response to the actuation of said power switch means; and
- circuits for connecting said reset signal generation means to a reset port of said digital control means for resetting said digital control means to a predetermined electrical state in accordance with said reset signal at an initial stage after actuation of said power switch means.
- 7. An image processing apparatus comprising:
- process means for scanning an original document, and for processing the scanning image, said process means including a reciprocable member for effecting the scanning;
- detecting means for detecting a position of said reciprocable member;
- means for generating serial pulses;
- means for generating a plurality of signals which indicate the size of a sheet; and
- digital control means for counting a period of time, by counting said serial pulses, and for controlling at least one of said process means including jam detection means in accordance with a predetermined number of counted pulses, wherein said digital control means starts to count said serial pulses in accordance with the position detection of said detecting means, and selects the number of pulses to be counted in accordance with said size signals to determine a control period of time in accordance with the size of the sheet.
- 8. An image processing apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said pulses are generated in synchronism with the rotation of a rotatable medium on which an image is formed.
