Claims
- 1. A method of producing a trigger signal for use in debugging the operation of a data processor, comprising:
providing information indicative of events associated with operation of the data processor; providing information indicative of past behavior of a trigger signal; and generating a trigger signal in response to said event information and said past behavior information.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said generating step includes applying the event information to a lookup table.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said generating step includes processing the event information with a Boolean function.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the trigger signal generated in said generating step is the trigger signal whose past behavior is indicated by said past behavior information.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing past behavior information includes providing information indicative of an occurrence of a sequence of triggers.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing past behavior information includes providing information indicative of a time period during which the associated trigger signal was active.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing past behavior information includes providing information indicative of an amount of time between activation of the associated trigger signal and activation of another trigger signal.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing event information includes providing information indicative of a state machine state.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing event information includes providing information indicative of a bus match.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein said step of providing event information includes providing information indicative of a counter reaching a predetermined count value.
- 11. A apparatus for producing a trigger signal for use in debugging the operation of a data processor, comprising:
an input for receiving information indicative of events associated with operation of the data processor; an input for receiving information indicative of past behavior of a trigger signal; and a trigger generator coupled to said inputs for generating a trigger signal in response to said event information and said past behavior information.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said trigger generator is operable for processing the event information with a Boolean function.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said trigger generator includes a lookup table coupled to said event information input.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said trigger signal produced by said trigger generator is the trigger signal whose past behavior is indicated by said past behavior information.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said information indicative of past behavior includes information indicative of an occurrence of a sequence of triggers.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said information indicative of past behavior includes information indicative of an amount of time during which the associated trigger signal was active.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said information indicative of past behavior includes information indicative of an amount of time between activation of the associated trigger signal and activation of another trigger signal.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said event information includes information indicative of a state machine state.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said event information includes information indicative of a bus match.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said event information includes information indicative of a counter reaching a predetermined count value.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
