Claims
- 1. A recombinant Chlamydia trachomatis pgp3 protein, consisting essentially of the amino acid sequence of native pgp3 protein, SEQ ID NO:1 and having its native amino acid conformation, wherein the recombinant Chlamydia trachomatis pgp3 protein can detect antibodies against conformational epitopes.
- 2. The recombinant pgp3 protein of claim 1 wherein the recombinant pgp3 protein is expressed in E. coli cells.
- 4. A method for producing a recombinant Chlamydia trachomatis pgp3 protein, consisting essentially of the amino acid sequence of native pgp3 protein, SEQ ID NO:1 and having its native amino acid conformation, wherein the recombinant Chlamydia trachomatis pgp3 protein can detect antibodies against conformational epitopes comprising the steps of:
a. expressing the recombinant pgp3 protein in E. coli cells; and b. purifying the recombinant pgp3 protein from E. coli cells extracts using native conditions.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of purifying the recombinant pgp3 protein from bacterial extracts comprises purifying the recombinant pgp3 protein from E. coli cell extracts using ion-exchange column chromatography.
