Claims
- 1. A detector array for a laser imaging apparatus, comprising:
- a) a plurality of detectors disposed in an arc around an opening in which an object to be scanned is disposed; and
- b) a plurality of variable gain integrators, each operably connected to a respective detector to accommodate the dynamic range of each detector.
- 2. The detector array of claim 1, wherein:
- a) each of said integrators includes an integrating operational amplifier;
- b) a hold switch disposed between said detector and said operational amplifier, said hold switch being closed during an integration interval and open during a hold interval; and
- c) a reset switch disposed across said operational amplifier, said reset switch being open during the integration and hold intervals.
- 3. A detector assembly for use in a laser imaging apparatus, comprising:
- a) a photodetector;
- b) an integrating amplifier operably connected to said photodetector;
- c) a hold switch disposed in series between said photodetector and said amplifier;
- e) a reset switch operably connected across said amplifier; and
- f) said hold switch being open and said reset switch being closed to reset the output of said amplifier to zero, said hold switch being closed and said reset switch being open to integrate the input to said amplifier at an integration interval to provide an output, said hold switch and said reset switch being open to hold the current value of the output, and said hold switch being open and said reset switch being closed to reset the output to zero.
- 4. The detector of claim 3, wherein said integration interval is variable.
- 5. The detector of claim 3, wherein the output of said photodetector is integrated at three time intervals.
