Claims
- 1. A detergent composition comprising from 5% to 60% by weight of one or more surfactants and from 0.001% to 10% by weight of a compound which is selected from the group consisting of peptides, antibodies, and pepiodmimics and binds specifically to a coloured substance which may occur as stains on fabrics, wherein the compound has a chemical equilibrium constant for binding to the coloured substance of less than 1*10−5, said coloured substance being selected from the group consisting of porphyrin derived structures, tannins, polyphenols, carotenoids, anthocyanins and maillard reaction products, said binding taking place during a wash cycle that includes agitation.
- 2. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the binding compound is a peptide.
- 3. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the chemical equilibrium constant Kd for the coloured substance is less than 1*10−7.
- 4. A detergent composition according to claim 1, further comprising an enzyme.
- 5. A detergent composition according to claim 4, in which the enzyme is a subtilisin protease.
- 6. A detergent composition according to claim 1, in the form of an granular detergent composition.
- 7. A composition according to claim 1,wherein the binding compound has a chemical equilibrium constant Kd for the coloured substance of less than 1*10−6.
- 8. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the amount of the compound capable of binding to a coloured substance is from 0.01 to 1 % by weight of the composition.
- 9. A detergent composition according to claim 1, further comprising a proteolytic enzyme.
- 10. A method of removing stains from fabrics comprising contacting at least a portion of a stained fabric with the composition according to claim 1.
