Claims
- 1. A device for supplying substances to be dispensed into air or air mixtures, the device including a base body that has multiple separate channels running through it, with the channels serving to accommodate respective substances to be dispensed, each channel containing an inlet port at one end of the channel and an outlet port disposed at an opposite end of the channel so a stream of gas supplied to the inlet port can flow through the channel, with the inlet and outlet ports of each channel including a respective inlet port seal element and a respective outlet port seal element for sealing each channel against volatilization until the substance is dispensed, wherein at least one of the inlet port seal element and the outlet port seal element is destructible, and further including destroying means for destroying the destructible seal elements.
- 2. A device according to claim 1 wherein the destroying means comprises a blower for generating the gas stream, the inlet port seal element and the outlet port seal element being breakable by the gas stream.
- 3. A device according to claim 1 wherein the substances are sealed within microcapsules.
- 4. A device according to claim 1 wherein the base body comprises a top layer, and a bottom layer, with the channels disposed between the top and bottom layers, the base body further including dividing webs separating the channels from one another, the webs extending between the top and bottom layers.
- 5. A device according to claim 1 wherein each channel includes two sheathing layers adhesively joined together and releasable from one another in response to the passing gas stream.
- 6. A device according to claim 1 wherein the channels are disposed side-by-side in a common plane.
- 7. A device according to claim 1 wherein the channels extend at an angle relative to one another.
- 8. A device according to claim 1 wherein the substances comprise respective scents.
- 9. A device according to claim 1 wherein the base body is flat, and having a top side and a bottom side, the channels extending parallel to the top side and the bottom side.
- 10. A device for supplying substances to be dispensed into air or air mixtures, the device including a base body that has multiple separate channels running through it, with the channels serving to accommodate respective substances to be dispensed, each channel containing an inlet port at one end of the channel and an outlet port disposed at an opposite end of the channel so a stream of gas supplied to the inlet port can flow through the channel, wherein the substances are sealed within microcapsules to prevent the substances from being volatilized by contact with air until the substances are dispensed, a plurality of the microcapsules being disposed in each of the channels and arranged to be ruptured in response to the passing of the gas stream through the channel.
- 11. A device according to claim 10 wherein each channel comprises two opposing surfaces arranged to be displaced away from one another in response to the passing of the gas stream through the channel; each microcapsule being attached to both of the surfaces to be ruptured when the surfaces are displaced away from one another.
- 12. A device according to claim 11 further comprising a blower for generating the gas stream.
- 13. A device according to claim 10 wherein the surfaces comprise two films joined together by an adhesive which also joins the microcapsules to the films.
- 14. A device according to claim 10 wherein the channels are disposed side-by-side in a common plane.
- 15. A device according to claim 10 wherein the substances comprise respective scents.
- 16. A device according to claim 10 wherein the base body is flat, and having a top side and a bottom side, the channels extending parallel to the top side and the bottom side.
- 17. A device for supplying substances to be dispensed into air or air mixtures, the device including a base body that has multiple separate channels running through it, with the channels serving to accommodate respective substances to be dispensed, each channel containing an inlet port at one end of the channel and an outlet port disposed at an opposite end of the channel so a stream of gas supplied to the inlet port can flow through the channel, each channel including a pair of mutually facing surfaces extending generally parallel to one another from adjacent the inlet port to adjacent the outlet port, the substance in each channel being attached to at least one of the surfaces to become entrained in the gas stream flowing unobstructedly through a space formed between the surfaces.
- 18. A device according to claim 17 wherein the surfaces are initially closed and displaced away from one another to form the space in response to the passing of the gas stream through the channel.
- 19. A device according to claim 17 wherein the substance in each channel is contained in microcapsules.
- 20. A device according to claim 17 wherein the substance in each channel is contained in a gel.
- 21. A device according to claim 17 wherein the substance in each channel is contained in a resin.
