Claims
- 1. An antibody binding specifically to a polypeptide having DGAT activity.
- 2. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said polypeptide is an animal polypeptide.
- 3. The antibody according to claim 2, wherein said animal polypeptide is a mammalian polypeptide.
- 4. The antibody according to claim 3, wherein said mammalian polypeptide is a mouse polypeptide.
- 5. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said mammalian polypeptide is a human polypeptide.
- 6. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said polypeptide is a plant polypeptide.
- 7. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.
- 8. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is a polyclonal antibody.
- 9. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is a humanized antibody.
- 10. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody is a chimeric antibody.
- 11. The antibody according to claim 1, wherein said antibody inhibits DGAT activity of said polypeptide.
- 12. A binding fragment of an antibody according to claim 1.
- 13. A mimetic of an antibody according to claim 1.
- 14. A cell that secretes an antibody according to claim 1.
- 15. The cell according to claim 14, wherein said cell is a hybridoma cell.
- 16. A method for detecting the presence of a DGAT polypeptide in a sample, said method comprising:
(a) contacting said sample with an antibody according to claim 1; and (b) detecting the presence of any resultant binding complex between said polypeptide and said antibody to detect the presence of said polypeptide in said sample.
- 17. The method according to claim 16, wherein said antibody is conjugated to a label.
- 18. A method for inhibiting the activity of a DGAT protein, said method comprising:
contacting said DGAT protein with an antibody that inhibits the activity of said DGAT protein.
