Claims
- 1. An isolated DNA comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a biologically active neurotrophic growth factor protein, wherein said protein has a molecular weight of about 26 kD, a heparin affinity domain, and is mitogenic to Swiss 3T3 cells, and wherein said DNA encodes a protein comprising the same amino acid sequence as residues 1-181 of SEQ ID NO:12 or residues 1-181 of SEQ ID NO:14.
- 2. A DNA according to claim 1, wherein said DNA does not contain interruptions by introns.
- 3. A DNA according to claim 1, wherein said DNA has the same nucleotide sequence as nucleotides 49-591 of SEQ ID NO:11 or nucleotides 22-564 of SEQ ID NO:13.
- 4. A recombinant DNA expression vector containing the DNA of claim 1.
- 5. The vector of claim 4, wherein said DNA is operatively associated with transcription regulatory elements capable of expressing the DNA in a eukaryotic or prokaryotic host cell transformed with said vector.
- 6. A recombinant DNA expression vector containing DNA encoding a neurotrophic growth factor protein having a molecular weight of about 26 kD, wherein said protein has a heparin affinity domain, is a mitogen to Swiss 3T3 cells, and wherein said protein comprises the same amino acid sequence as amino acids 1-181 of SEQ ID NO:12 or amino acids 1-181 of SEQ ID NO:14.
- 7. Recombinant host cells transformed with the vector of claim 4.
