Claims
- 1. An electroluminescent display device comprising in sequence:
- (a) a substrate having a major surface;
- (b) a first electrode disposed over the major surface of the substrate;
- (c) a light-emitting film disposed over the first electrode;
- (d) a second electrode disposed over the light-emitting film; and
- (e) at least one insulating film disposed in contact with a major surface of the light-emitting film, wherein the insulating film has a columnar crystal structure oriented parallel to the direction of an electric field formed between said first and second electrode, wherein said entire insulating film retains said columnar crystal structure when said electric field is formed to operate said display device.
- 2. A display device according to claim 1, wherein the insulating film is formed from silicon nitride.
- 3. A display device according to claim 1, wherein the insulating film is formed from tantalum oxide.
- 4. A display device according to claim 1 wherein the insulating film is disposed between the first electrode and the light-emitting film.
- 5. A display device according to claim 4 wherein insulating films are respectively disposed between the first electrode and the light-emitting film and between the second electrode and the light-emitting film.
