Claims
- 1. A camera, comprising:
- a camera body;
- a zoom lens that is movable with respect to said camera body between a retracted position and an extended position;
- means for obtaining distance information with regard to a distance between said camera and a subject to be photographed;
- means for operating said camera in both a normal mode and a macro mode;
- means for determining whether distance information within a predetermined range is obtained by said means for obtaining distance information;
- means, at least responsive to said distance information obtained by said means for obtaining distance information, for enabling photographing in said macro mode; and
- means for inhibiting a release of a shutter associated with said camera when said zoom lens is in said macro mode and said subject is beyond a predetermined maximum range in which said means for obtaining distance information can obtain distance information, while permitting said release of said shutter when said zoom lens is in said macro mode and said subject is closer than a predetermined minimum range in which said means for obtaining distance information can obtain distance information.
- 2. The camera of claim 1, wherein said zoom lens further comprises means for shifting said lens to a position for photographing in said normal mode by said means for inhibiting photographing in said macro mode.
- 3. The electronically controlled camera of claim 2, wherein said lens is shifted to said normal mode after a shutter release switch associated with said camera is released.
- 4. The camera of claim 2, further comprising means for returning said lens to said macro mode after a photographing operation is completed when said lens was shifted from said macro mode to said normal mode by said shifting means.
- 5. The camera of claim 2, further comprising means for releasing said shutter in said normal mode in response to said shifting of said lens from said macro mode to said normal mode by said shifting means.
- 6. The camera of claim 5, further comprising means for returning said lens to said macro mode after said shutter is released in said normal mode.
- 7. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode under first predetermined conditions, including means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined conditions;
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a further mode under second predetermined conditions, including means for obtaining information indicative of said second predetermined conditions; and
- means for said electronically controlled camera to disable said means for enabling a predetermined operation in said macro mode in response to said first predetermined conditions being beyond a maximum value, while permitting said predetermined operation in said macro mode in response to said first predetermined conditions being less than a minimum value.
- 8. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 7, further comprising a lens which is movable for permitting photographing in said macro mode and in said further mode, and wherein said means for disabling comprises means for moving said lens from a macro position to a further position.
- 9. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 8, further comprising means for controlling said means for moving said lens for returning said lens to said macro position after photographing in said further position.
- 10. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode, including means for releasing a camera shutter;
- means for detecting object-distance-information; and
- means for said electronically controlled camera to lock a release of said camera shutter when said detected object-distance-information is determined to be beyond a predetermined maximum value in said macro mode, while permitting said release of said camera shutter when said detected object-distance-information is determined to be less than a predetermined minimum value in said macro mode.
- 11. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode, including means for releasing a camera shutter;
- means for obtaining object-distance-information; and
- means for said electronically controlled camera to lock a release of said camera shutter when object-distance-information obtained by said means for obtaining object-distance-information is determined to be beyond a predetermined maximum value in said macro mode, while permitting said release of said camera shutter when said obtained object-distance-information is determined to be less than a predetermined minimum value in said macro mode.
- 12. The electronically controlled camera according to either of claims 10 and 11, wherein said means for releasing said camera shutter is responsive to information obtained by said means for detecting object-distance-information which is within a predetermined object-distance range, said object-distance range including a short distance extremity and a long distance extremity, and wherein said camera further comprises means for producing a warning in response to information obtained by said means for detecting object-distance-information that is indicative of said predetermined short distance extremity.
- 13. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 12, wherein said means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode remains enabled to permit said predetermined operation in response to information obtained by said means for detecting object-distance-information indicative of said predetermined short distance extremity.
- 14. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode under first predetermined conditions, including means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined conditions;
- means for enabling a predetermined operation in a normal mode under second predetermined conditions, including means for obtaining information indicative of said second predetermined conditions;
- means for releasing a shutter of said camera in response to information obtained by said means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined conditions or in response to information obtained by said means for obtaining information indicative of said second predetermined conditions; and
- means for said electronically controlled camera to inhibit an operation of said means for releasing said shutter of said camera when said camera is operated in said macro mode and said means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined conditions obtains information indicative of said first predetermined conditions being beyond a predetermined maximum value, while permitting said release of said camera shutter when said obtained information indicative of said first predetermined conditions is less than a predetermined minimum value in said macro mode.
- 15. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 14, further comprising a lens which is movable for permitting photographing in said macro mode and in said normal mode, and wherein said means for inhibiting comprises means for moving said lens from a macro position to a normal position.
- 16. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 14, wherein said means for releasing said camera shutter is responsive to information obtained by said means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined conditions obtaining information which is within a predetermined object-distance range, said predetermined object-distance range including a short distance extremity and a long distance extremity, and wherein said camera further comprises means for producing a warning in response to information obtained by said means for obtaining information indicative of said first predetermined object-distance range obtaining information indicative of said predetermined short distance extremity.
- 17. The electronically controlled camera according to claim 16, wherein said means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode remains enabled to permit said predetermined operation in response to information obtained by said means for obtaining object-distance-information indicative of said predetermined short distance extremity.
- 18. A camera comprising:
- (a) means for enabling a predetermined operation in a macro mode, within a predetermined object-distance range, said range having a short distance extremity and a long distance extremity;
- (b) means for obtaining object-distance-information indicative of a distance between said camera and an object to be photographed; and
- (c) means for producing a warning, in response to information obtained by said object-distance-information obtaining means, when the distance between the object to be photographed and said camera is less than the distance represented by said short distance extremity, said enabling means further comprising means for enabling said predetermined operation when said distance between said camera and said object is less than the distance represented by said short distance extremity.
- 19. The camera according to claim 18, wherein said predetermined operation comprises releasing the shutter of said camera.
- 20. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- a photographing lens;
- means for enabling a photographing operation in a macro mode and a further mode;
- means for obtaining object-distance-information; and
- means for disabling said photographing operation means in said macro mode by shifting said photographing lens from a macro position to a further position only when object-distance-information obtained by said obtaining means is determined to be beyond a predetermined maximum value in said macro mode.
- 21. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- a camera body;
- a lens that is associated with said camera body, said lens being movable between a macro position and a further position;
- means for obtaining information indicative of a set of conditions;
- means for enabling a photographing operation in response to said information obtaining means;
- means for inhibiting said photographing operation in said macro position only when said information obtaining means obtains information indicative of said set of conditions being beyond a predetermined maximum value; and
- means for shifting said lens from said macro position to said further position when said inhibiting means inhibits said photographing operation.
- 22. The camera of claim 21, wherein said set of conditions comprises a completion of charging of a strobe associated with said camera.
- 23. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- a photographing lens having a macro position and a zooming position;
- an enabling circuit that enables a photographing operation in said macro position and said zooming position;
- a detector that obtains object-distance-information that is indicative of a distance between said camera and an object to be photographed;
- a disabler that disables said photographing operation enabling circuit in said macro position when a release switch associated with said camera is activated and said object to be photographed is beyond a maximum macro focusable distance; and
- a shifter that shifts said photographing lens from said macro position to said zooming position so as to enable said photographing operation in said zooming position when said disabler disables said photographing operation in said macro position.
- 24. The electronically controlled camera of claim 23, wherein said photographing position is enabled in said macro position when said object to be photographed is closer than a predetermined minimum, macro focusable distance.
- 25. The electronically controlled camera of claim 24, further comprising an indicator that produces a warning in response to said object to be photographed being determined to be closer than said predetermined minimum macro focusable distance.
- 26. The electronically controlled camera of claim 23, further comprising a photographing lens returner that moves said photographic lens back to said macro position after said photographic lens is shifted to said zooming position and said photographing operation occurs.
- 27. The electronically controlled camera of claim 24, further comprising a shutter that is releasable in said zooming position after said lens is shifted from said macro position to said zooming position.
- 28. The electronically controlled camera of claim 27, further comprising a returner that returns said lens to said macro position after said shutter is released in said zooming position.
- 29. The electronically controlled camera of claim 23, further comprising a shutter that is releasable in said zooming position after said lens is shifted from said macro position to said zooming position.
- 30. The electronically controlled camera of claim 29, further comprising a returner that returns said lens to said macro position after said shutter is released in said zooming position.
- 31. An electronically controlled camera, comprising:
- a photographing lens that is movable between a macro photographic position and a zoom photographic position;
- a shutter release circuit that releases a shutter associated with said camera to perform a photographing operation;
- a detector that obtains object-distance-information that is indicative of a distance between said camera and an object to be photographed; and
- means for disabling said shutter release circuit, when said lens is in said macro photographic position and when a release switch associated with said camera is actuated, but only when the object to be photographed is beyond a maximum macro-focusable distance.
- 32. The electronically controlled camera of claim 31, further comprising an indicator that produces a warning when said shutter release circuit is disabled by said disabling means.
- 33. The electronically controlled camera of claim 31, further comprising means for reactivating said shutter release circuit when said photographing lens is moved from said macro position to said zoom photographic position.
