Claims
- 1. A copying apparatus for performing a duplicating operation of an original document comprising:
- a. an original document scanning means for scanning and transmitting an image of an original document to be duplicated, said scanning means comprising movable means for reciprocal movement along a scanning path defined by the limits of image transmission, wherein said movable means moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to the first direction, said movable means moving faster in the second direction than in the first direction;
- b. receptor means for receiving said transmitted image and producing an intermediate image of the original document in response thereto, said receptor means comprising an endless surface moving cyclically along a fixed path, on which surface said intermediate image is produced;
- c. a copy sheet feed means for presenting copy sheets to said surface containing said intermediate image in order to transfer said intermediate image of said original document onto said copy sheets;
- d. detection means disposed in a predetermined position along the scanning path of said movable means for producing a detection signal in response thereto, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means from a first state to a second state when said movable means moves in the first direction;
- e. control means for moving said movable means in the first direction for scanning operation; and
- f. means for actuating a copy sheet feed means in response to actuation of said switch means from the first state to the second state when said control means is in operation during the movement of said scanning means in the first direction.
- 2. Apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said original document scanning means is a slit-exposure optical system and said movable means comprises means for moving said original document.
- 3. A copying apparatus for preforming a duplicating operation on an original document comprising:
- a. an original document scanning means for scanning and transmitting an image of an original document to be duplicated, said scanning means comprising movable means for reciprocal movement along a scanning path defined by the limits of image transmission, wherein said movable means moves in a first direction for scanning the original document and in a second direction opposite to the first direction, said movable means moving faster in the second direction than in the first direction;
- b. receptor means for receiving said transmitted image and producing an intermediate image of the original document in response thereto, said receptor means comprising an endless surface moving cyclically along a fixed path continuously at a predetermined rate during the duplicating operation, on which surface said intermediate image is produced;
- c. a copy sheet feed means for presenting copy sheets to said surface containing said intermediate image in order to transfer said intermediate image of said original document onto the copy sheets;
- d. detection means disposed in a predetermined position along the scanning path of said movable means for detecting the movement of said movable means past the predetermined position and for producing a detection signal in response thereto, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means from a first state to a second state when said movable means moves in the first direction;
- e. control means for changing the stroke of scan in accordance with a selected mode; and
- f. means for actuating the copy sheet feed means in response to actuation of said switch means from the first state to the second state, in each selected mode during the movement of said scanning means in the first direction, wherein the predetermined position is set along the scanning path of said movable means such that the detection signal is synchronized to cause said copy sheet feed means to feed a copy sheet to said surface to transfer the image on the receptor means to the copy sheet.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 1 or 3, wherein said feed means includes first driving means for feeding the copy sheet out of a copy sheet accommodation means and a second driving means for stopping the copy sheet fed by said first drive means and for feeding it to an image transfer station for image transfer, and wherein said actuating means actuates said second drive means to feed the copy sheet to the image transfer station.
- 5. An apparatus according to claim 1 or 3 further comprising selector means for selecting an image forming mode, and wherein said feed means is actuated by said switch means in a first mode and actuated by a switch actuated in accordance with rotation of said receptor means in a second mode.
- 6. An electrophotographic apparatus, comprising:
- a. a rotatable photosensitive member;
- b. means for scanning an original to form an image thereof on said photosensitive member, said scanning means comprising movable means which moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to said first direction, said movable means moving faster in the second direction than in the first direction;
- c. means for accommodating a transfer material;
- d. first feed means for feeding a transfer material out of said accommodating means;
- e. a transfer station for transferring an image on the photosensitive member onto the transfer material;
- f. second feed means for feeding the transfer material fed out by said first feed means to said transfer station;
- g. detection means disposed in a predetermined position along the scanning path of said movable means for producing a detection signal in response thereto, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means from a first state to a second state when said movable means moves in the first direction;
- h. control means for moving said movable means in the first direction for scanning operation; and
- i. means for actuating said first feed means to feed the transfer material so that it reaches said second feed means before said scanning means reaches said predetermined position, and for actuating, in response to actuation of said switch means, said second feeding means to feed the transfer material to said transfer station in synchronism with movement of said scanning means, when said control means is in operation.
- 7. An apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising:
- means for selecting between a plurality of copy sizes;
- means for controlling the movement of said movable means so that the stroke of said movable means is different when a relatively smaller size is selected than when a relatively larger size is selected, wherein said actuating means actuates said first feed means and said second feed means by the same detecting means, independently of the strokes of said movable means which are different when selected copy size is different.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 3 or 6, wherein said movable means requires for one reciprocation layer time than required by one full rotation of said rotatable means.
- 9. An electrophotographic apparatus, comprising:
- a. a rotatable photosensitive member;
- b. means for scanning an original to form an image thereof on said photosensitive member, said scanning means comprising movable means which moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to said first direction, said movable means moving faster in the second direction than in the first direction;
- c. means for accommodating transfer material;
- d. first feed means for feeding transfer material from said accommodating means;
- e. a transfer station for transferring an image on said photosensitive member onto the transfer material;
- f. second feed means for feeding the transfer material fed by said first feed means to said transfer station;
- g. a plurality of detection means disposed at predetermined positions along the scanning path of said movable means for producing detection signals in response thereto to actuate said first and second feed means and to stop the movement of said movable means, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means when said movable means moves in the first direction after starting its movement but before termination of the scanning, wherein said detection means for stopping the movement of said movable means causes the movable means to restart movement in said first direction for successive copies;
- h. control means for moving said movable means in the first direction for scanning operation; and
- i. means for actuating, in response to one of the signals from said detection means, said first feed means to feed the transfer material so that it reaches said second feed means before said scanning means reaches a predetermined position, and for actuating, in response to another one of said signals from said detecting means, said second feeding means to feed the transfer material to said transfer station in synchronism with the movement of said scanning means, when said control means is in operation.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 1 or 9, wherein said movable means requires for one reciprocation longer time than required by one full rotation of said rotatable means, and returning its start position before termination of two full rotations of said rotatable means.
- 11. A copying apparatus for performing a duplicating operation on an original document comprising:
- a. rotatable means for receiving a transmitted image and producing an intermediate image of the original document in response thereto, said means comprising an endless surface moving cyclically along a fixed path, on which surface said intermediate image is produced;
- b. an original document scanning means for scanning and transmitting an image of an original document to be duplicated, said scanning means comprising movable means for reciprocal movement along a scanning path defined by the limits of image transmission, wherein said movable means moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to the first direction, said movable means requiring, for one reciprocation, a longer time than is required for one full rotation of said rotatable means, and returning to its start position before the termination of two full rotations of said rotatable means;
- c. a copy sheet feed means for presenting copy sheets to said surface containing said intermediate image in order to transfer the intermediate image of said original document onto the copy sheets;
- d. a plurality of detection means disposed in predetermined positions along the scanning path of said movable means for actuating said copy sheet feed means and for stopping the movement of said movable means at the start position, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means when said movable means moves in the first direction, wherein said detection means for stopping the movement of said movable means causes the movable means to restart movement in said first direction for successive copies;
- e. control means for changing the stroke of scan in accordance with a selected mode; and
- f. means for supplying electric power to the copy sheet feed means to actuate it in response to actuation of said switch means, in each selected mode, during the movement of said scanning means in the first direction.
- 12. An electrophotographic apparatus, comprising:
- a. a rotatable photosensitive member;
- b. means for scanning an original to form an image thereof on said photosensitive member, said scanning means comprising movable means which moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to said first direction, said movable means moving faster in the second direction than in the first direction;
- c. means for accommodating transfer material;
- d. first feed means for feeding transfer material from said accommodating means;
- e. a transfer station for transferring an image on said photosensitive member onto the transfer material;
- f. second feed means for feeding the transfer material fed by said first feed means to said transfer station;
- g. a plurality of detection means disposed at predetermined positions along the scanning path of said movable means for producing detection signals in response thereto to actuate said first and second feed means and to stop the movement of said movable means, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means when said movable means moves in the first direction after starting its movement but before termination of the scanning, wherein said detection means for stopping the movement of said movable means causes the movable means to restart movement in said first direction for successive copies;
- h. means for actuating, in response to one of the signals from said detection means, said first feed means to feed the transfer material so that it reaches said second feed means before said scanning means reaches a predetermined position, and for actuating, in response to another one of said signals from said detecting means, said second feeding means to feed the transfer material to said transfer station in synchronism with the movement of said scanning means;
- i. means for selecting between a plurality of copy sizes; and
- j. means for controlling the movement of said movable means so that the stroke of said movable means is different when a relatively smaller size is selected than when a relatively larger size is selected, wherein said actuating means actuates said first feed means and said second feed means by the same detecting means, independently of the strokes of said movable means which are different when selected copy size is different.
- 13. A copying apparatus for performing a duplicating operation on an original document comprising:
- a. rotatable means for receiving a transmitted image and producing an intermediate image of the orignal document in response thereto, said means comprising an endless surface moving cyclically along a fixed path, on which surface said intermediate image is produced;
- b. an original document scanning means for scanning and transmitting an image of an original document to be duplicated, said scanning means comprising movable means for reciprocal movement along a scanning path defined by the limits of image transmission, wherein said movable means moves in a first direction for scanning the original and in a second direction opposite to the first direction, said movable means requiring, for one reciprocation, a longer time than is required for one full rotation of said rotatable means, and returning to its start position before the termination of two full rotations of said rotatable means;
- c. a copy sheet feed means for presenting copy sheets to said surface containing said intermediate image in order to transfer the intermediate image of said original document onto the copy sheets;
- d. a plurality of detection means disposed in predeterminated positions along the scanning path of said movable means for actuating said copy sheet feed means and for stopping the movement of said movable means at the start position, said detection means including switch means actuatable by said movable means when said movable means moves in the first direction, wherein said detection means for stopping the movement of said movable means causes the movable means to restart movement in said first direction for successive copies;
- e. means for supplying electric power to the copy sheet feed means to actuate it in response to actuation of said switch means during the movement of said scanning means in the first direction; and
- f. selector means for selecting an image forming mode, wherein said feed means is actuated by said switch means in a first mode and actuated by a switch actuated in accordance with rotation of said rotatable means in a second mode.
