Claims
- 1. An electrophotographic toner containing a binder resin and at least one charge control agent represented by the following formula (1): ##STR8## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently represent an alkyl group having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted benzyl group; R.sub.4 represents an alkenyl group, 3-phenyl-2-propenyl group, an alkynyl group, 3-phenyl-2-propynyl group, or a group represented by the formula: ##STR9## where R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently represent hydrogen atom, acetyl group, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, methoxy group, ethoxy group, hydroxyl group, dimethylamino group, diethylamino group, or amino group, and Y represents hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, at aralkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms, or a group of --CO--O--R.sub.9 or --CO--NH--R.sub.9 where R.sub.9 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group; and X.sup.- represents an anion.
- 2. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein the compound represented by the formula (1) is a compound represented by the following formula (2): ##STR10## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently represent an alkyl group having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted benzyl group; R.sub.4 represents an alkenyl group, 3-phenyl-2-propenyl group, an alkynyl group, or 3-phenyl-2-propynyl group; and X.sup.+ represents an anion.
- 3. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein the compound represented by the formula (1) is a compound represented by the formula (3): ##STR11## wherein R.sub.11, R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 independently represent hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, methoxy group, or ethoxy group; R.sub.14, R.sub.15, R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 independently represent hydrogen atom, acetyl group, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, methoxy group, ethoxy group, hydroxyl group, dimethylamino group, diethylamino group, or amino group; A represents hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms, or a group of --CO--O--R.sub.18 or --CO--NH--R.sub.18 where R.sub.18 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group; and X.sup.- represents an anion.
- 4. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein the compound represented by the formula (1) is a compound represented by the following formula (4): ##STR12## wherein B represents an alkenyl group, 3-phenyl-2-propenyl group, an alkynyl group, or 3-phenyl-2-propynyl group, and X.sup.- represents an anion.
- 5. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein the compound represented by the formula (1) is a compound represented by the following formula (5): ##STR13## wherein D represents hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms, or a group of --CO--O--R.sub.19 or --CO--NH--R.sub.19 where R.sub.19 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group, and X.sup.- represents an anion.
- 6. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein toner particles comprise said binder resin, a colorant and the charge control agent represented by the formula (1) in respective amounts effective for electrophotography.
- 7. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently represent cyclohexyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms.
- 8. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein R.sub.4 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkynyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms.
- 9. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein R.sub.9 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having 7 to 10 carbon atoms.
- 10. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group selected from the group consisting of phenyl and naphthyl, and a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group selected from the group consisting of benzyl, .alpha.-methylbenzyl, diphenylmethyl and phenethyl.
- 11. An electrophotographic toner according to claim 1, wherein X.sup.- represents an electrophotographically acceptable anion.
