Claims
- 1. A heat fixing device having an electrical heating means for heat-fixing a toner image on a sheet member, said heat fixing device comprising temperature detecting means; heating control means for controlling energization and deenergization of the heating means on a basis of temperature detected by said temperature detecting means; said heating control means, before lapse of a first predetermined period of time from application of an electric power, controlling the energization and deenergization of said heating means on a basis of whether the detected temperature is below a second predetermined value higher than a first predetermined value suitable for heat fixation and thus adjusting the detected temperature substantially to the second predetermined value, and after the lapse of said first predetermined period of time from the application of electric power, controlling the energization and deenergization of said heating means on the basis of whether the detected temperature is below said first predetermined value, and thus adjusting said detected temperature substantially to said first predetermined value; an electric power saving means having a manually operable power saving switch for producing a power saving signal according to the operation of the power saving switch, said heating control means controlling the energization and deenergization of said heating means on the basis of whether said detected temperature is below a third predetermined value lower than the first predetermined value when the power saving signal is present, and thus adjusting the detected temperature substantially to said third predetermined value.
- 2. The heat fixing device of claim 1 wherein when electric power is again applied before the lapse of a second predetermined time from a time of the electric power being off, said heating control means, even before the lapse of the first predetermined time from the application of electric power, controls the energization and deenergization of said heating means on the basis of whether the detected temperature is below the first predetermined value and thus adjusts the detected temperature substantially to said first predetermined value.
- 3. The heat fixing device of claim 2 wherein said second predetermined time is about 10 to about 15 minutes.
- 4. The heat fixing device of claim 1 wherein said first predetermined value is about 180.degree. C.
- 5. The heat fixing device of claim 1 wherein said second predetermined value is about 190.degree. C.
- 6. The heat fixing device of claim 1 wherein said third predetermined value is about 160.degree. C.
- 7. The heat fixing device of claim 1 wherein said first predetermined time is about 10 to about 15 minutes.
- 8. The heat fixing device of claim 1 further comprising a cooperating pair of rollers through which passes the sheet member having the toner image to be heat-fixed, and in which one of said pair of rollers is hollow and said heating means is disposed in said one of the roller pair, and said temperature detecting means detects the temperature adjacent the surface of said one of the roller pair.
- 9. A heat fixing device having an electrical heating means for heat-fixing a toner image on a sheet member, said heat-fixing device comprising temperature detecting means; heating control means for controlling energization and deenergization of the heating means on a basis of temperature detected by said temperature detecting means; and an electric power saving means having a manually operable power saving switch for producing a power saving signal according to the operation of the power saving switch, wherein when said power saving signal is absent, said heating control means controls energization and deenergization of said heating means on a basis of whether said detected temperature is below a first predetermined value suitable for heat fixation and thus adjusts said detected temperature substantially to said first predetermined value, and when said power saving signal is present, said heating control means controls energization and deenergization of said heating means on a basis of whether said detected temperature is below a second predetermined value lower than the first predetermined value, and thus adjusts the detected temperature substantially to said second predetermined value.
- 10. The heat fixing device of claim 9 wherein said first predetermined value is about 180.degree. C.
- 11. The heat fixing device of claim 10 wherein said second predetermined value is about 160.degree. C.
