Claims
- 1. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer adjacent to said first layer,
- wherein said second layer is interposed between said first layer and said ceramic surface and a hardness of said second layer is smaller than that of said first layer.
- 2. A sensor according to claim 1 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 3. A sensor according to claim 1 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 4. A sensor according to claim 1 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 5. A sensor according to claim 1 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 6. A sensor according to claim 1 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 7. A sensor according to claim 1 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 8. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has an energy band gap within 1.5 to 5.5 eV.
- 9. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 10. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 11. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 12. A sensor according to claim 8 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 13. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 14. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 15. A sensor according to claim 8 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 16. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has a Vickers hardness not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 17. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 18. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 19. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 20. A sensor according to claim 16 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 21. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 22. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said Vickers hardness of the first layer is not lower than 2000 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 23. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said first layer has an amorphous structure.
- 24. A sensor according to claim 16 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 25. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has a resistivity within a range from 10.sup.10 to 10.sup.15 ohm cm.
- 26. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 27. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 28. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 29. A sensor according to claim 25 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 30. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 31. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 32. A sensor according to claim 25 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 33. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has a thermal conductivity not lower than 2.5 W/cm deg.
- 34. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 35. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 36. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 37. A sensor according to claim 33 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 38. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 39. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 40. A sensor according to claim 33 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 41. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said second layer has a Vickers hardness not higher than 1000 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 42. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 43. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 44. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 45. A sensor according to claim 41 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 46. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 47. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 48. A sensor according to claim 41 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 49. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer interposed between said ceramic surface and said first layer,
- wherein said second layer has a resistivity within a range from 1.times.10.sup.2 to 1.times.10.sup.6 ohm cm.
- 50. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 51. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 52. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 53. A sensor according to claim 49 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 54. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 55. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 56. A sensor according to claim 49 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 57. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer adjacent to said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has an energy band gap within 1.5 to 5.5 eV; and
- wherein said second layer has a Vickers hardness not higher than 1000 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 58. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 59. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 60. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 61. A sensor according to claim 57 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 62. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 63. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 64. A sensor according to claim 57 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 65. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer adjacent to said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has an energy band gap within 1.5 to 5.5 eV; and
- wherein said second layer has a resistivity within a range from 1.times.10.sup.2 to 1.times.10.sup.6 ohm cm.
- 66. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 67. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 68. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 69. A sensor according to claim 65 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 70. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 71. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said carbon having C--C bonds has an amorphous structure and a Vickers hardness of said first layer is not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 72. A sensor according to claim 65 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
- 73. A sensor having a surface subject to a rubbing action, comprising:
- a substrate having a ceramic surface; and
- a protective film formed on said ceramic surface, said protective film including a first layer comprising carbon having C--C bonds and a second layer adjacent to said first layer,
- wherein said first layer has an energy band gap within 1.5 to 5.5 eV and a Vickers hardness not lower than 500 kg/mm.sup.2 ; and
- wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second layer.
- 74. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of groups III and V elements.
- 75. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a halogen element, phosphorus, boron and nitrogen.
- 76. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said first layer contains hydrogen or a halogen element at a concentration not higher than 25 atomic %.
- 77. A sensor according to claim 73 said first layer contains an element selected from the group consisting of B, P or N at a concentration not higher than 5%.
- 78. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said first layer has a higher hardness than said second first layer.
- 79. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said second layer has a resistivity within a range from 1.times.10.sup.2 to 1.times.10.sup.6 ohm cm.
- 80. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said second layer has a Vickers hardness not higher than 1000 kg/mm.sup.2.
- 81. A sensor according to claim 73 wherein said sensor is an image sensor.
