Claims
- 1. A method of fusing electrophotographic toner comprising applying heat to a heat fusing member from a heated member external to said fusing member, said heat fusing member comprising a heat resistant substrate and a plurality of layers sequentially coating the outer surface of said heat resistant substrate, wherein at least one of said layers does not contain electrically conductive materials, and wherein said heat fusing member exhibits electrical breakdown at about 250 volts or less.
- 2. The method as in claim 1 wherein the layers carried by said heat fusing member comprise a primer layer directly covering said substrate, an intermediate layer directly covering said primer layer, and a top layer directly covering said intermediate layer.
- 3. The method as in claim 2 wherein said top layer does not contain electrically conductive materials.
- 4. The method as in claim 3 wherein said primer layer and said intermediate layer both comprise a fluoropolymer and electrically conductive materials.
- 5. The method as in claim 4 the electrically conductive materials are selected from the group consisting of carbon black, ionic conductive additives and mixtures thereof.
- 6. The method as in claim 1 wherein the top layer of said plurality of layers does not contain electrically conductive materials.
