Claims
- 1. A panel for use with a covering for an architectural opening comprising:
A sheet of fabric; At least two strings displaced from one another and positioned in a parallel plane spaced from said sheet; and A plurality of spaced, parallel, flexible, longitudinally extending, fabric vanes, each of said vanes having a first longitudinally extending edge and a second longitudinally edge wherein the first longitudinally extending edge of each vane is attached to said sheet of fabric, and the second longitudinally extending edge of said vane is attached to said strings, whereby movement of the strings relative to the sheet of fabric causes movement of said vanes:
- 2. The panel of claim 1 wherein said sheet of fabric is a sheer.
- 3. The panel of claim 1 wherein said sheet of fabric is made from a single piece of material.
- 4. The panel of claim 1 wherein said vanes further include first and second faces and wherein the first face is attached to said sheet and the second face is attached to said strings.
- 5. The panel of claim 1 wherein said vanes are S-shaped in transverse cross section when disposed substantially perpendicular to said sheet and said strings.
- 6. The panel of claim 1 wherein said attachment of said vanes to said sheet and/or said strings is with an adhesive.
- 7. A covering for an architectural opening comprising:
A hardware system; A sheet of fabric connected to said hardware system; At least two parallel strings connected to said hardware system and spaced from one another in a plane spaced from and parallel to said sheet; and A plurality of spaced, parallel, flexible, longitudinally extending, fabric vanes, each of said vanes having a first longitudinally extending edge and a second longitudinally edge wherein the first longitudinally extending edge of each vane is attached to said sheet of fabric, and the second longitudinally extending edge of said vane is attached to said strings, whereby movement of the strings relative to the sheet of fabric causes movement of said vanes.
- 8. The covering of claim 7 wherein said sheet of fabric is a sheer.
- 9. The covering of claim 7 wherein said sheet of fabric is made from a single piece of material.
- 10. The covering of claim 7 wherein said vanes further include first and second faces and wherein the first face is attached to said sheet and the second face is attached to said strings.
- 11. The covering of claim 7 wherein said vanes are S-shaped in transverse cross-section when disposed substantially perpendicularly to said sheet and said strings.
- 12. The covering of claim 7 wherein said attachment of said vanes to said sheet and/or said strings is with an adhesive.
- 13. The covering of claim 7 wherein said hardware system includes a roller.
- 14. A light controlling covering for an architectural opening comprising a first sheet of material, said first sheet of material including a first texture, a second sheet of material disposed parallel to said first sheet, said second sheet of material including a second texture different from said first texture, and a plurality of substantially parallel elongated strips of material secured to and extending between said first and second sheets of material, said covering being movable between an open position wherein said sheets are maximally spaced from each other and a closed position adjacent to each so as to be spaced only by said strips of material and wherein said strips of material bias said covering toward said closed position.
- 15. A light controlling covering for an architectural opening comprising a first sheet of material, said first sheet of material including a first texture, a second sheet of material disposed parallel to said first sheet, said second sheet of material including a second texture different from said first texture, and a plurality of substantially parallel elongated strips of material secured to and extending between said first and second sheets of material, said strips having edge portions which are secured to said first and second sheets and a central portion between said edge portions and wherein said edge and central portions have different physical characteristics.
- 16. A light controlling covering for an architectural opening comprising a first sheet of material, said first sheet of material including a first texture, a second sheet of material disposed parallel to said first sheet, said second sheet of material including a second texture different from said first texture, and a plurality of substantially parallel elongated strips of material secured to and extending between said first and second sheets of material, wherein said first and second sheets are air permeable.
