Claims
- 1. A composition, said composition comprising a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, wherein said composition has a melting point of at least 46° C.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax component is selected from the group consisting of sunflower oil wax, rice bran wax, hydrogenated jojoba oil, and corn oil wax.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax is sunflower oil wax.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein said vegetable oil is selected from the group consisting of rapeseed oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, palm oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, sesame oil, peanut oil, cottonseed oil, and corn oil.
- 5. The composition of claim 4, wherein said vegetable oil is rapeseed oil.
- 6. The composition of claim 5, wherein said rapeseed oil is canola oil.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition comprises a trans fatty acids content of about 0%.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition comprises a trans fatty acids content of less than about 3%.
- 9. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition comprises a saturated fatty acid content of less than 7%.
- 10. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 0.5% to about 30%, by weight, of said composition.
- 11. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 0.5% to about 7.5%, by weight, of said composition.
- 12. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 1% to about 5%, by weight, of said composition.
- 13. The composition of claim 1, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 2% to about 4%, by weight, of said composition.
- 14. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition has a melting point of at least about 52° C.
- 15. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition has a melting point of at least about 60° C.
- 16. The composition of claim 1, wherein said composition has a melting point of about 46° C. to about 75° C.
- 17. A composition comprising a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, wherein said composition has a melting point of about 5° C. to about 50° C.
- 18. A margarine or spread comprising the composition of claim 17.
- 19. A shortening comprising the composition of claim 17.
- 20. The composition of claim 17, wherein said plant-derived wax component is selected from the group consisting of sunflower oil wax, rice bran wax, hydrogenated jojoba oil, and corn oil wax.
- 21. The composition of claim 17, wherein said plant-derived wax is sunflower oil wax.
- 22. The composition of claim 17, wherein said vegetable oil is selected from the group consisting of rapeseed oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, palm oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, sesame oil, peanut oil, cottonseed oil, and corn oil.
- 23. The composition of claim 22, wherein said vegetable oil is rapeseed oil.
- 24. The composition of claim 23, wherein said rapeseed oil is canola oil.
- 25. The composition of claim 17, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 0.1% to about 30%, by weight, of said composition.
- 26. A composition comprising an interesterified vegetable oil and plant-derived wax component, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises at least about 0.1%, by weight, of said composition.
- 27. The composition of claim 26, wherein said composition has a solid fat content of less than about 8% at 10° C.
- 28. The composition of claim 26, wherein said solid fat content is less than about 6% at 10° C.
- 29. The composition of claim 26, wherein said solid fat content is about 1% to about 6% at 10° C.
- 30. A composition comprising a vegetable oil from a first plant species and a plant-derived wax component from a second plant species, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises at least about 0.1%, by weight, of said composition.
- 31. The composition of claim 30, wherein said plant-derived wax component is sunflower oil wax.
- 32. The composition of claim 30, wherein said vegetable oil is selected from the group consisting of rapeseed oil, soybean oil, palm oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, sesame oil, peanut oil, and corn oil.
- 33. A method for making a composition, said method comprising blending a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises at least about 0.5%, by weight, of said composition.
- 34. The method of claim 33, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 0.5% to about 30%, by weight, of said composition.
- 35. A composition made by combining a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises at least about 0.5%, by weight, of said composition.
- 36. A microwave popcorn product comprising a plurality of unpopped popcorn kernels and a fat composition, wherein said kernels are suspended in said fat composition, and wherein said fat composition comprises a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, said plant-derived wax component comprising at least about 0.1%, by weight, of said fat composition.
- 37. The microwave popcorn product of claim 36, wherein said plant-derived wax comprises about 1% to about 2%, by weight, of said composition.
- 38. The microwave popcorn product of claim 36, wherein said vegetable oil and said plant-derived wax component in said fat composition are interesterified.
- 39. A food product comprising a fat composition, said fat composition comprising a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, said plant-derived wax component comprising at least about 0.1%, by weight, of said fat composition.
- 40. The food product of claim 39, wherein said vegetable oil and said plant-derived wax component in said fat composition are interesterified.
- 41. A cosmetic product comprising a fat composition, said fat composition comprising a vegetable oil and a plant-derived wax component, said plant-derived wax component comprising at least about 0.1%, by weight, of said fat composition.
- 42. The cosmetic product of claim 41, wherein said plant-derived wax component comprises about 0.5% to about 30%, by weight, of said fat composition.
- 43. The cosmetic product of claim 41, wherein said vegetable oil and said plant-derived wax component in said fat composition are interesterified.
