Claims
- 1. An isolated nucleic acid comprising at least 15 contiguous nucleotides of a fibroblast growth factor receptor activating gene 1 (FRAG1) nucleic acid that hybridizes under stringent conditions to the FRAG1 nucleic acid.
- 2. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the stringent conditions comprise hybridization at 65° C. in a hybridization solution comprising 6×SSC, 5× Denhardt's reagent, 0.5% SDS, 100 μg/ml denatured, fragmented salmon sperm DNA.
- 3. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the FRAG1 nucleic acid comprises a native FRAG1 nucleic acid.
- 4. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 3, wherein the native FRAG1 nucleic acid comprises a rat FRAG1 nucleic acid.
- 5. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 4, wherein the rat FRAG1 nucleic acid comprises the nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 6.
- 6. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 3, wherein the native FRAG1 nucleic acid comprises a human FRAG1 nucleic acid.
- 7. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 6, wherein the human FRAG1 nucleic acid comprises a nucleic acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 8. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the isolated nucleic acid is a primer.
- 9. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 8, wherein the primer is useful in detecting an abnormality in a chromosome of a subject.
- 10. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 9, wherein the abnormality is a fusion of a FRAG 1 gene to another gene.
- 11. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 12, wherein the subject suffers from a neoplasm.
- 12. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 11, wherein the neoplasm is an osteosarcoma.
- 13. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 8, wherein the primer is capable of amplifying a nucleic acid sequence.
- 14. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the isolated nucleic acid is a probe.
- 15. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 14, wherein the probe is attached to a detectable label.
- 16. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 10, wherein the detectable label is a radioactive isotope, a ligand, a chemiluminescent agent, an enzyme, or a combination thereof.
- 17. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleic acid comprises at least 30 contiguous nucleotides of a FRAG1 nucleic acid that hybridizes under stringent conditions to the FRAG1 nucleic acid.
- 18. An isolated nucleic acid comprising at least 100 nucleotides having at least 70% nucleotide sequence similarity with a FRAG1 nucleic acid.
