Claims
- 1. A film processing apparatus comprising a tank for containing a fixer bath into which silver containing materials pass from film moving into and through said bath, an electrically chargeable device, first charging circuit means connectable to said chargeable device for charging said chargeable device in one direction at a first predetermined rate during movement of film into said bath, second charging circuit means connectable to said chargeable device for charging said chargeable device in the opposite direction at a second predetermined rate following movement of film into said bath, a pair of electroplating electrodes mounted to extend into said bath, electrical current supply means arranged to cause electroplating current to flow through said electrodes and through said bath at a magnitude corresponding to the charge on said chargeable device and switch means responsive to movement of film into said bath and arranged to maintain said first charging circuit means connected to said chargeable device during movement of film into said bath and to maintain said second charging circuit means connected to said chargeable device following movement of film into said bath.
- 2. A film processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said first charging circuit means includes a transistor having a feedback connection to provide a linear charge characteristic to said chargeable device.
- 3. A film processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said second charging circuit means includes means for maintaining said second predetermined rate in accordance with the charge on said chargeable device when a film completes its movement into said bath.
- 4. A film processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said chargeable device comprises a main capacitor.
- 5. A film processing apparatus according to claim 4 wherein said second charging circuit means comprises a second capacitor and a current flow control device, said current flow control device being connected to charge said main capacitor in said opposite direction in accordance with the charge on said second capacitor and said second capacitor being connected to be charged by said first charging circuit means.
- 6. A film processing apparatus according to claim 5 wherein further switch means are interposed between said first charging circuit means and said second capacitor, said further switch means being actuable with the first mentioned switch means to maintain said second capacitor disconnected from said first charging circuit means during charging of said main capacitor in said first direction.
- 7. A film processing apparatus according to claim 5 wherein said second charging circuit includes a field effect transistor having its gate terminal connected to said second capacitor.
- 8. A film processing apparatus according to claim 6 wherein the first mentioned switch means is arranged to permit current flow in said first and second charging circuits, alternately, in accordance with film movement and absence of film movement, respectively, into said bath.
- 9. A film processing apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said electrical circuit further includes means for generating a control signal corresponding to the magnitude of charge on said chargeable device, means for generating a detection signal in response to the current flowing through said electrodes, means for comparing said control signal and said detection signal and alarm means operative in response to the occurrence of a predetermined discrepancy between the control and detection signals.
- 10. A film processing apparatus according to claim 9 wherein said means for generating a detection signal comprises a reference resistor connected in series with said electrodes and means for sensing the voltage across said reference resistor.
- 11. A film processing apparatus according to claim 10 wherein said means for comparing said control signal and said detection signal comprises at least one operational amplifier having one terminal connected to receive voltage corresponding to the voltage developed across said reference resistor and having a second terminal connected to receive voltages corresponding to the charge on said chargeable device.
