Claims
- 1. 46. A method of limiting mechanical abrasion, comprising:
- 2. 47. The method of claim 46, wherein the matrix material is substantially nonabrasive.
- 3. 48. The method of claim 46, wherein the first member is more abrasive than the second member.
- 4. 49. The method of claim 48, wherein the second material is substantially nonabrasive.
- 5. 50. The method of claim 48, wherein the first member is more abrasive than the second member due to selective chemical treatment of the matrix material.
- 6. 51. The method of claim 46, wherein a portion of the first polishing surface extends beyond the second polishing surface.
- 7. 52. The method of claim 46, further comprising removing an amount of the second material such that at least a portion of the first polishing surface extends beyond the second polishing surface.
- 8. 53. The method of claim 52, wherein the second member is removed either mechanically or chemically.
- 9. 54. The method of claim 46, further comprising providing a liquid on the surface during the polishing.
- 10. 55. A method of limiting mechanical abrasion, comprising:
- 11. 56. The method of claim 55, wherein the first member is more abrasive than the second member.
- 12. 57. The method of claim 56, wherein the second material is substantially nonabrasive.
- 13. 58. The method of claim 56, wherein the first member is more abrasive than the second member due to selective chemical treatment of the matrix material.
- 14. 59. The method of claim 55, wherein a portion of the first polishing surface extends beyond the second polishing surface.
- 15. 60. The method of claim 55, further comprising removing an amount of the second material such that at least a portion of the first polishing surface extends beyond the second polishing surface.
- 16. 61. A method of limiting mechanical abrasion, comprising:
- 17. 62. The method of claim 61, wherein the first member is more abrasive than the second member due to selective chemical treatment of the matrix material.
- 18. 63. The method of claim 61, wherein a portion of the first polishing surface extends beyond the second polishing surface.
- 19. 64. The method of claim 61, wherein the matrix material is substantially nonabrasive.
