Claims
- 1. A frame for supporting at least one light modifying sheet, comprising:
- a main rod having first and second free ends and a main axis;
- a first hinge connected to said main at said first free near end thereof;
- a second hinge connected to said main rod at said second free an opposite end thereof;
- a third hinge connected to said first and second free ends main rod at a location thereon intermediate said first and second free ends;
- a frame support rod connected to said third hinge and pivotally mounted about a first axis through said third hinge to said main rod;
- a sheet support rod pivotally connected to each of said first and second hinges and pivotable therethrough about respective second and third axes which are fixed with respect to said main rod, said second and third axes being parallel to each other and perpendicular to said first axis, said second and third axes being respectively spaced outwardly from said first and second free ends of said main rod and being laterally spaced from said main axis of said main rod by distances to permit rotation of said sheet support rod to a folded position parallel to said main rod and through about 270.degree. to an erected position perpendicular to said main rod and with sides of said sheet support rods engaged respectively near said first and second free ends of said main rod said frame support rod and said main rod lying in a common plane with said plane being perpendicular to a second plane which includes said sheet support rods when in their erected positions.
- 2. A frame according to claim 1, wherein said second and third axes are spaced laterally with respect to said main axis of said main rod on a side of said main rod which is the same as said folded position for said sheet support rods, said sheet support rods extending through said main axis of said main rod when the sheet support rods are in their respective erected position.
- 3. A frame according to claim 2, wherein said first axis about which said frame support rod is mounted for pivoting with respect to said main rod, is spaced laterally of said main axis of said main rod and at a location spaced from a center of said main rod, said location dividing said main rod into a long portion having a length substantially equal to a length of said frame support rod, and a short portion which is shorter in length than the length of said long portion, said first axis being positioned so as to permit movement of said frame support rod from a parallel position with respect to said main rod and adjacent said long portion of said main rod, through 180.degree., to another parallel position with respect to said main rod lying adjacent said short portion of said main rod.
- 4. A frame according to claim 2, wherein said first and second hinges each comprise a bracket having wings to which an end of one of said sheet support rods is connected, said bracket including a stop surface for holding each sheet support rod perpendicular to said main rod.
- 5. A frame according to claim 4, including friction means connected between said wings of said hinge bracket and said sheet support rod connected to said wings.
- 6. A frame according to claim 2, wherein said third hinge is connected to said main rod at a position spaced from a center of said main rod and dividing said main rod into a long portion and a short portion, said frame support rod having a length approximately equal to said long portion and greater than said short portion, said first hinge constructed to permit pivotal movement of at least 180.degree. between said frame support rod and said main rod.
- 7. A frame according to claim 6, wherein each of said sheet support rods are at most equal in length to said main rod.
- 8. A frame according to claim 2, wherein said at least one clipped means comprises a four sided clip member engaged around said sheet support rod and defining a gap for receiving a light modifying sheet and a spring engaged between said clip member and said sheet support rod for biasing said clip member in a direction to interpose a portion of said sheet support rod in said gap.
- 9. A frame according to claim 8, wherein one side of said clip member bounding said gap includes at least one dimple projecting toward said sheet support rod.
- 10. A frame according to claim 9, wherein said sheet support rod on which said clip member is engaged includes a dimple aligned with said dimple of said clip member.
- 11. A frame according to claim 2, including a clamp for clamping said frame support rod to a rod-like member at any relative angle, said clamp comprising a first clamp plate, a second clamp plate pivotally connected to said first clamp plate about a first axis and at a pivotal connection, said first and said clamp plates having juxtaposable engaging portions spaced from said pivotal connection for holding one of said frame support rod and the rod-like member therebetween, a third clamp plate mounted for rotation about a second axis to said first clamp plate on a side of said first clamp plate facing away from said second clamp plate, said second axis extending substantially perpendicularly to said first axis, said third clamp plate having an engaging portion for holding one of said frame support rod and the rod-like member between said third and first clamp plates, and pressing means connected to said first, second and third clamp plates for pressing said juxtaposable engaging portions of said first and second clamp plates together and for pressing said engaging portion of said third clamp plate toward said first clamp plate.
- 12. A frame according to claim 11, wherein said pressing means comprises aligned openings in said first, second and third clamp plates, a threaded rod extending through said aligned openings, means for fixing a rotational position of said threaded rod with respect to said second clamp plate and a threaded knob engaged to said threaded knob over said third clamp plate rotatable to move said first, second and third clamp plates together.
