Claims
- 1. An outlet assembly having a base member and outlet cover detachably secured to said base member, comprising:
- a copper frame assembly disposed in said outlet cover;
- a flat wire connection assembly detachably secured to the outlet cover;
- a first plurality of male conductive contacts fixedly secured to said copper frame assembly for respective communication with corresponding elongated slots extending from one surface of said flat wire connection assembly; and
- a plurality of female receptacles integrated with said outlet cover and contacting said copper frame assembly.
- 2. An outlet assembly as in claim 1, wherein said base member comprises a plurality of openings for mating with a standard female receptacle outlet assembly.
- 3. An outlet assembly as in claim 2, further including
- a ground fault interrupter module detachably secured to the outlet cover, said ground fault interrupter module having male contacts for communication, through said openings in the base member, with respective slots in the standard female receptacle outlet assembly; and
- a second plurality of male conductive contacts fixedly secured to said copper frame assembly for respective communication with corresponding slots contained along one surface of said ground fault interrupter module.
- 4. An outlet assembly as in claim 1, wherein said flat wire connection assembly includes means for connecting flat-wire to conventional round wire and then to the outlet cover.
- 5. An outlet assembly as in claim 4, wherein said means for connecting includes
- a plurality of conventional set screws spaced along a first surface of the flat wire connection assembly, said set screws being in communication with conventional round wiring leads;
- one or more flat wire receptacles spaced along a second surface of the flat wire connection assembly for receiving respective conductors of the flat wire, each of the flat wire receptacles containing a plurality of slotted springs for contacting respective layers of copper in each of said respective conductors; and
- screw means for biasing said slotted springs.
- 6. An outlet assembly as in claim 1, wherein said flat wire connection assembly includes means for connecting flat-wire to the outlet cover.
- 7. An outlet assembly as in claim 6, wherein said means for connecting includes
- one or more flat wire receptacles spaced along a first surface of a connector for receiving respective conductors of the flat wire, each of the flat wire receptacles containing a plurality of slotted springs for contacting respective layers of copper in each of said respective conductors;
- one or more elongated slots spaced along a second surface of the connector for receiving respective male conductive contacts spaced along the outlet frame assembly, wherein said elongated slots have a plurality of individually movable wipers for contacting said male conductive contacts; and
- screw means for biasing said slotted springs.
