Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR23## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl,
- R.sub.2 is a substituent of the formula ##STR24## or --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --R.sub.7, R.sub.3 is methyl,
- R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are hydrogen or methyl, and
- R.sub.7 is --NH.sub.2,
- m is 1, 2 or 3, and
- n is 0, 1, 2 or 3,
- or a salt thereof or a zwitterion thereof.
- 2. ##STR25## or a protected form thereof, and/or a physiologically hydrolyzable and acceptable ester thereof or a zwitterion thereof.
- 3. ##STR26## or a protected form thereof, and/or a physiologically hydrolyzable and acceptable ester thereof or a zwitterion thereof.
- 4. ##STR27## or a protected form thereof, and/or physiologically hydrolyzable and acceptable ester thereof or a zwitterion thereof.
- 5. An antimicrobial composition comprising an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or zwitterion thereof together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier.
- 6. A method of combating bacteria which comprises administering to a subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or zwitterion thereof together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent carrier.
