Claims
- 1. A formulated elastomeric composition consisting essentially of from about 10 to about 95 weight percent of at least one homogeneous linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer, at least one curing agent, and at least one filler, wherein the .alpha.-olefin is a C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin, and wherein the copolymer has a density of about 0.86 to about 0.89 g/cm.sup.3.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the .alpha.-olefin is 1-octene.
- 3. A fabricated article made from the composition of claim 1.
- 4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the homogeneous linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer is characterized as having a single melting point by differential scanning calorimetry (DCS).
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the homogeneous linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer is characterized as having a composition distribution breadth index (CDBI) of at least about 30.
- 6. The fabricated article of claim 3, wherein the fabricated article is selected from the group consisting of automotive hoses, single ply roofing, and wire and cable voltage insulation.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer is provided in an amount of from about 20 to about 80 weight percent.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer is provided in an amount of from about 25 to about 65 weight percent.
- 9. The composition of claim 1, wherein the at least one filler is selected from the group consisting of ignition resistant fillers, carbon black, mineral fillers, aluminum trihydrate, calcium carbonate, and silicon treated clay.
- 10. The composition of claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-olefin is 1-hexene.
- 11. The composition of claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-olefin is 1-pentene.
- 12. The composition of claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-olefin is 4-methyl-1 -pentene.
