Claims
- 1. A method for preparing a master model for use in the manufacture of a golf ball having plural dimples including at least sets of large and small diameter dimple, comprising the steps of:
- feeding a cutter into a hemispherical surface of a master block to different depths from a reference position while rotating the cutter, thereby forming a set of large and small recesses corresponding to the large and small diameter dimples, respectively, wherein the cross-sectional shape of the small recess is the same as the cross-sectional shape of a bottom portion of the large recess.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said set of recesses includes at least three recesses having different diameters.
- 3. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of forming;
- at least two sets of recesses using at least two cutters.
- 4. A method of preparing a mold for forming golf balls comprising the step of;
- reversing the master model created by the method of 1.
- 5. A method of preparing a mold for forming golf balls comprising the step of;
- reversing the master model created by the method of claim 2.
- 6. A method of preparing a mold for forming golf balls comprising the step of;
- reversing the master model created by the method of claim 3.
- 7. A master model for a golf ball mold by which a golf ball having plural of dimples including at least sets of large and small diameter dimples is formed,
- said master model being prepared by feeding a cutter into a hemispherical surface of a master block to different depths from a reference position while rotating the cutter, thereby forming a set of large and small recesses corresponding to the large and small diameter dimples, respectively, wherein the cross-sectional shape of the small recess is the same as the cross-sectional shape of a bottom portion of the larger sectional contour.
- 8. A golf ball mold which is fabricated by reversing the master model of claim 7.
