Claims
- 1. A method for improving the adhesion of a halogenated butyl rubber composition to a tire carcass which comprises incorporating into said composition as the halogenated butyl rubber, an improved halogenated butyl rubber having a conjugated diene unsaturation content of less than 0.25 mole %, a halogen content of at least 0.6 wt. %, and at least 20 mole % of the halogen being in a primary allylic configuration.
- 2. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein the halogen is chlorine.
- 3. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein the halogen is bromine.
- 4. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein the halogen content is about 0.8 wt. % to about 2.4 wt. %.
- 5. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein the halogen content is at least 0.9 wt. %.
- 6. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein at least 25 mole % of the halogen is present in the primary allylic configuration.
- 7. The improved method according to claim 6 wherein about 25 mole % to about 90 mole % of the halogen is present in the primary allylic configuration.
- 8. The improved method according to claim 1 wherein said composition comprises an innerliner composition.
