Claims
- 1. An image receiving apparatus for attaching to a headrest in a motor vehicle, comprising:
an imaging pod at a first distal end of an attaching plate with connectors for engaging the plate to a headrest of a motor vehicle; an imaging device mounted within the imaging pod and including one or more imaging sensors for imaging in one or more directions, adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors; a wireless communicator for sending said electrical signals to a signal recorder remote from the imaging device for recording signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors, whereby the plate, being attached to the headrest, disposes the imaging device substantially centrally relative to a central axis of a motor vehicle receiving the headrest for imaging therefrom.
- 2. The imaging receiving apparatus as recited in claim 1, further comprising a seat belt loop at an opposing distal for receiving a portion of a seat belt therethrough.
- 3. The image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 1, further comprising an audio receiver mounted in the imaging pod for creating second electrical signals representative of sounds received by the audio receiver, and wherein the wireless communicator further sends the second electrical signals to the signal recorder.
- 4. The image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 1, wherein means for connecting comprises a plurality of fasteners for engaging the plate to the headrest.
- 5. An image receiving apparatus for attaching to a headrest in a motor vehicle, comprising:
a plate having an imaging pod at a first distal end and a seat belt loop at an opposing distal for receiving a portion of a seat belt therethrough with means for connecting the plate to a headrest of a motor vehicle; an imaging device mounted within the imaging pod and including one or more imaging sensors for imaging in one or more directions, adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors; a wireless communicator for sending said electrical signals to a signal recorder remote from the imaging device for recording signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors, whereby the plate, being attached to the headrest, disposes the imaging device substantially centrally relative to a central axis of a motor vehicle receiving the headrest for imaging therefrom.
- 6. The image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 5, further comprising an audio receiver mounted in the imaging pod for creating second electrical signals representative of sounds received by the audio receiver, and wherein the wireless communicator further sends the second electrical signals to the signal recorder.
- 7. The image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 5, wherein means for connecting comprises a plurality of fasteners for engaging the plate to the headrest.
- 8. An image receiving pod for attaching to a headrest in a motor vehicle, comprising:
a housing that encloses an imaging device having one or more imaging sensors for imaging in one or more directions, adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors; and a connector member attached at a first distal end to he housing and having an opposing distal end adapted for engaging to a headrest of a motor vehicle, whereby connector member, being attached at the opposing distal end, disposes the imaging device laterally of the headrest for selective imaging therefrom.
- 9. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 8, wherein the housing is rotatably engaged to the connector member, whereby the housing is pivoted to a selected position for imaging.
- 10. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 8, wherein the connector member is rotatably connected to the headrest, whereby the housing is pivoted to a selected position for imaging.
- 11. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 8, wherein the connector member is piovtally connected to the headrest, whereby the housing is pivoted to a selected position for imaging.
- 12. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 8, further comprising a signal communications pathway transmitting said one or more electrical signals to a signal recorder.
- 13. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 12, wherein the signal communications pathway comprises a wireless communicator within the housing for sending said electrical signals to the signal recorder for recording signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors.
- 14. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 12, further comprising an audio receiver mounted in the housing for creating second electrical signals representative of sounds received by the audio receiver, and wherein the wireless communicator further sends the second electrical signals to the signal recorder.
- 15. The image receiving pod as recited in claim 12, wherein said signal recorder is adapted for remote operation by a control module, said control module including operator operable indica for changing one or more mode of operation of said camera imaging apparatus, said control module including a display for displaying images.
- 16. A modular image recording insert for being received within a cavity of a motor vehicle, comprising:
a base having a first connector of a first character and adapted to be secured within a cavity of a motor vehicle; and an image recorder having a second connector of a second character adapted for selective mating engagement with the first connector whereby the image recording apparatus is detachably connected to the base, whereby an imaging device having one or more image receiving sensors for imaging in one or more directions and adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors and a communicator for sending the electrical signals from the imaging device to the imaging recorder transmits signals representative of the received images to the modular image recording insert.
- 17. An image recording apparatus for receiving and recording images from within a motor vehicle, comprising:
a modular imaging recording insert having a base having a first connector of a first character and adapted to be inserted and secured within a cavity of a motor vehicle and adapted for selective detachable mating engagement to an image recorder having a second connector of a second character matably engagable with the first connector whereby the image recording apparatus is detachably connected to the base; an imaging device having one or more image receiving sensors for imaging in one or more directions and adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors; and a communicator for sending the electrical signals from the imaging device to the imaging recorder, whereby imaging device transmits signals representative of the received images to the modular image recording insert.
- 18. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 17, wherein the imaging device is remote from the image recorder.
- 19. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 17, wherein the communicator comprises a wireless transmitter operatively associated with the imaging device and a wireless receiver operatively associated with the image recorder, wherein the transmitter communicates the electrical signals to the receiver for recording the signals representative of the images.
- 20. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 17, wherein the communicator comprises an light source activated for transmission of light signals representative of the electrical signals; and further comprising a light receiving body in communication with the image recorder.
- 21. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 20, wherein the light receiving body communicates the light signals via a light conductive pathway to the image recorder.
- 22. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 17, wherein the communicator comprises a wired connection between the imaging device and the image recorder for communicating the electrical signals thereto.
- 23. The image recording apparatus as recited in claim 17, wherein the base is secured within a glovebox of the motor vehicle.
- 24. An integral headrest and image receiving apparatus for a motor vehicle, comprising:
a headrest for a seat of a motor vehicle; an imaging pod extending laterally of the headrest from a frame member of the headrest; an imaging device mounted within the imaging pod and including one or more imaging sensors for imaging in one or more directions, adapted to create one or more electrical signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors; a communicator for sending said electrical signals to a signal recorder remote from the imaging device for recording signals representative of the images received by the imaging sensors, whereby the imaging pod integral with the headrest, disposes the imaging device substantially centrally relative to a central axis of a motor vehicle for imaging therefrom.
- 25. The integral headrest and image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 24, further comprising a seat belt loop at an opposing lateral side of the headrest for receiving a portion of a seat belt therethrough.
- 26. The integral headrest and image receiving apparatus as recited in claim 24, further comprising an audio receiver mounted in the imaging pod for creating second electrical signals representative of sounds received by the audio receiver, and wherein the wireless communicator further sends the second electrical signals to the signal recorder.
- 27. The integral headrest and image receiving apparatus wherein the communicator is wireless.
