Claims
- 1. An article of manufacture for the prevention of the increase of temperature in heat sensitive devices through the absorption of heat during heat generating conditions comprising
a salt of an organic acid in an amount sufficient to effect the required heat absorption; and means for supporting said salt of an organic acid, the physical characteristics of said means for supporting said salt of an organic acid being defined by the heat absorbing application.
- 2. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the salt of an organic acid is selected from the group consisting of lithium formate and its hydrates, berrylium formate and its hydrates, sodium formate and its hydrates, magnesium formate and its hydrates, aluminum formate and its hydrates, potassium formate and its hydrates, calcium formate and its hydrates, ammonium formate and its hydrates, lithium acetate and its hydrates, berrylium acetate and its hydrates, sodium acetate and its hydrates, magnesium acetate and its hydrates, aluminum acetate and its hydrates, potassium acetate and its hydrates, calcium acetate and its hydrates, ammonium acetate and its hydrates, lithium propionate and its hydrates, berrylium propionate and its hydrates, sodium propionate and its hydrates, magnesium propionate and its hydrates, aluminum propionate and its hydrates, potassium propionate and its hydrates, calcium propionate and its hydrates, ammonium propionate and its hydrates, lithium butyrate and its hydrates, berrylium butyrate and its hydrates, sodium butyrate and its hydrates, magnesium butyrate and its hydrates, aluminum butyrate and its hydrates, potassium butyrate and its hydrates, calcium butyrate and its hydrates, ammonium butyrate and its hydrates and the mixtures thereof.
- 3. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the means for supporting said salt of an organic acid further comprises a retaining matrix, packaging, encapsulation, microencapsulation, enclosure or structure to form a heat absorbing surface, device or structure.
- 4. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the heat sensitive device is embedded within the salt of an organic acid.
- 5. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the heat sensitive device is surrounded by the salt of an organic acid.
- 6. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the means for supporting said salt of an organic acid is a closed container, within which said salt of an organic acid is located.
- 7. The article of manufacture according to claim 6, wherein said salt of an organic acid lines the inner wall of the closed container.
- 8. The article of manufacture according to claim 7, wherein said heat sensitive device is located within and spaced from said salt of an organic acid.
- 9. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein said bicarbonate salt is adhered to a flexible substrate, said substrate being adaptable to the size and shape of said heat sensitive device.
- 10. The article of manufacture according to claim 1, wherein the means for supporting said salt of an organic acid is the salt of an organic acid itself.
