Claims
- 1. A positive working heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate having on a lithographic base with a hydrophilic surface a top layer including a thermally hardenable polymer, soluble in an aqueous alkaline solution, wherein said top layer comprises an IR dye or pigment and is unpenetrable for or insoluble in an alkaline developer and wherein said top layer has a glass transition temperature of at least 57° C.
- 2. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 1 wherein said top layer has a glass transition temperature of at least 59° C.
- 3. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 2 wherein said thermally hardenable polymer is selected from the group consisting of novolac, a polyhydroxystyrene and a carboxy substituted polymer.
- 4. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 1 wherein the top layer comprises a solubilising compound for said thermally hardenable polymer.
- 5. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 4 wherein said solubilising compound is a compound selected from the group consisting of low molecular acids and benzophenones.
- 6. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 1 wherein said lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface is an electrochemically grained and anodized aluminum substrate.
- 7. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 1 wherein said lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface is a flexible support provided with a hardened hydrophilic binder.
- 8. A positive working heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate having on a lithographic base with a hyrophilic surface a first layer including a thermally hardenable polymer, soluble in an aqueous alkaline solution, and a top layer on the same side of the lithographic base as the first layer which top layer is IR-sensitive and unpenetrable for or insoluble in an alkaline developer wherein said first layer and said top layer may be one and the same layer and said first layer and said top layer being the imaging layers; characterized in that said imaging layers have a glass transition temperature of at least 57° C., and wherein said layer containing the thermally hardenable polymer comprises a solubilising compound for said polymer.
- 9. A heat mode imaging element for making a lithographic printing plate according to claim 8 wherein said solubilising compound is a compound selected from the group consisting of low molecular acids and benzophenones.
