Claims
- 1. A process for preparing a high modulus rubber composition which consists essentially of the steps of: (1) polymerizing at least one diisocyanate with at least one diol in a polymerization medium which consists essentially of the diisocyanate, the diol, and a polymer cement of a styrene-isoprene-butadiene rubber at room temperature and under conditions which result in the formation of a rubber cement having a polyurethane dispersed therein; and (2) recovering the high modulus rubber composition from the rubber cement.
- 2. The high modulus rubber composition made by the process specified in claim 1.
- 3. The high modulus rubber composition specified in claim 2 wherein said high modulus rubber composition contains about 5 phr to about 40 phr of the polyurethane.
