Claims
- 1. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- process input means for setting plural kinds of data for image formation;
- process means for forming an image on a recording medium on the basis of data set by said process input means;
- plural detection means each for detecting an error state in said apparatus;
- memory means provided with memory areas corresponding to a respective detection means;
- common display means capable of displaying detection results by said plural detection means; and
- control means for receiving the detection outputs from said plural detection means, for producing signals indicating error states in said apparatus on the basis of the detection results by said detection means, and for supplying the signals to said common display means;
- said control means comprising designating means for designating each of said plural detection means, storage means for storing a detection result by the designated detection means in the memory area of said memory means corresponding to said designated detection means, reading means for reading the detection results stored in the memory areas of said memory means corresponding to said respective detection means, and display control means for controlling said reading means in such a manner that if the read detection result does not indicate an error state in said apparatus, said reading means automatically reads a next memory area successively, and if the read detection result indicates an error state in said apparatus, said common display means displays an error indication in accordance with a type of error state for a predetermined period and said reading means reads a next memory area, wherein said display control means controls said common display means to perform the steps of automatically and successively displaying the error states detected by said plural detection means at predetermined time intervals, and wherein said control means controls said common display means to repeatedly execute the step of successively displaying detected error states.
- 2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said display means displays data associated with the number of times of image formation when an image formation mode is set.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said display means displays a detected error state in a different display format from that displaying the data associated with the number of times of image formation.
- 4. An image forming apparatus, comprising:
- transport means for transporting a recording sheet;
- image forming means for forming an image on the recording sheet transported by said transport means;
- a power switch operable for supplying an electric power to said image forming means;
- a plurality of detecting means, provided at respective locations on a path for transporting the recording sheet, for detecting the presence/absence of the recording sheet to detect a jam along the transport path;
- control means for controlling said transport means and said image forming means to execute an image forming operation, said control means including a program for, during the image forming operation, detecting a jam of the recording sheet on the basis of an output provided from each of said plural detecting means in accordance with a predetermined timing to suspend operations of said transport means and said image forming means upon the detection of a jam of the recording sheet;
- power supply means for supplying an electric power to said control means; and
- reset means for resetting a jam state in response to a predetermined operation,
- wherein responsive to a jam reset operation by said reset means after the detection of a jam of the recording sheet, said control means discriminates a detection state of each of the plural detecting means consecutively without actuation of said power switch before the start of the image forming operation; and
- said control means inhibits the start of the image forming operation and displays the presence of the recording sheet when any of said plural detecting means detects the recording sheet, while said control means allows the start of the image forming operation when none of said plural detecting means detects the recording sheet.
- 5. An apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said detection means checks jamming in predetermined parts of said apparatus.
- 6. An apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising display means for displaying trouble detected by said detection means, said display means displaying in sequence trouble in the predetermined parts detected by said detection means.
- 7. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said display means displays data indicating the number of times of image formation input through said process input means, said display means displaying the trouble in a different display format from that displaying the data indicating the number of times of image formation.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said control means is adapted to retain the data set by said process input means prior to detection of the trouble by said detection means even after cancelling a state of the trouble by said reset means.
- 9. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- input means for inputting data associated with an image formation condition;
- image forming means for forming an image on a recording medium on the basis of the data inputted by said input means in a normal operation mode;
- display means for displaying the image formation condition on the basis of the data input by said input means;
- control means for controlling said display means;
- check means for manually setting the apparatus in a check mode different from the normal operation mode to check a state of the apparatus and for selectively executing one of a plurality of check operations; and
- designating means for optionally designating one of the check operations to be executed by said check means by commonly using said input means in said check mode,
- wherein said control means comprises a memory area for storing data indicating a type of check operation designated by commonly using said input means, and read-out means for reading out the data from the memory area to display read-out data commonly using said display means, and
- wherein said control means, upon the apparatus being set to the check mode, controls said display means to display a fixed symbol to indicate that the apparatus is in the check mode state which renders a different display mode of said display means from that for said normal operation mode, controls said read-out means to read out the data from said memory area, and also controls said display means to display an indication identifying a type of the check operation designated by said designating means on the basis of the read-out data, thereby allowing said display means to display together both the symbol indicating the apparatus is in the check mode state and the indication of the designated check operation while the designated check operation is being executed.
- 10. An image forming apparatus according to claim 9, wherein said designating means comprises a numeral key for input the number of image formations.
- 11. An image forming apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said display means is capable of displaying the number of image formations set by said numeral key.
