Claims
- 1. An image-forming apparatus, comprising:
- a housing;
- an image carrier disposed in the housing and adapted to carry thereon a latent image corresponding to an original image;
- a developing device for developing the latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier, said developing device including first developing means for developing the latent image by means of a first developing agent, and second developing means for developing the latent image by means of a second developing agent, at least one of said first and second developing means being removably set in said housing and being exchangeable such that a person who performs a copying operation can remove at least one of said first and second developing means and exchange at least one of said first and second developing means with one other developing means;
- inserting/removing means for facilitating insertion of at least one of said first and second developing means to the housing and removal of it from the housing by any person performing a copying operation on said apparatus; and
- selecting means for selecting the first or second developing means that is to be operated;
- interruption selecting means for causing one of the developing means to execute an image-forming process while the other developing means is executing another image-forming process, and
- control means adapted to cause the interruption selecting means to automatically select an image-forming process by the second developing means, when the interruption selecting means is selected;
- said at least one of said first and second developing means being movable, between a position at which a driving force can be transmitted from a driving means and a position outside of the housing, along a guide path extending at a right angle to the axial direction of said image carrier.
- 2. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said selecting means selects a prescribed one of the first and second developing means, when an interruption of an image forming operation for a predetermined time after an end of the image forming operation is detected.
- 3. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said selecting means selects a prescribed one of the two developing means when power is applied to the image forming apparatus.
- 4. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said first developing means can be selected by the selecting means when an interruption mode is established by the interruption selecting means.
- 5. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said control means selects that developing means which has been driven before interruption, when the interruption mode established by the interruption selecting means is cancelled.
- 6. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said first and second developing means include first and second developing rollers, respectively.
- 7. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said first and second developing rollers each include a magnet roll and a sleeve surrounding the magnet roll.
- 8. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said second developing agent is black, and said first developing agent is any other color than black.
- 9. The image-forming apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said housing carries a control panel on the top surface thereof, and said selecting means includes a changeover switch on the control panel, whereby the first or second developing means is selected by operating the changeover switch.
