Claims
- 1. An image processing apparatus comprising:
- operable processing means for processing an original image;
- computer control means for controlling operation of said operable processing means, said control means including a program memory for storing a plurality of instructions defining a sequence of operations of said operable processing means;
- first input means for starting the sequence of operations; and
- second input means for entering a specific signal into said computer control means to instruct selection of some of the instructions stored in said program memory so as to permit said operable processing means to operate without normal image processing,
- wherein said control means permits said operable processing means to operate without actually producing the image, upon identifying the fact that said specific signal is entered by the second input means, and said control means prevents said second input means from entering the specific signal thereinto, after start of the sequence of operations by said first input means.
- 2. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- operable processing means for forming an image;
- computer control means for controlling operation of said operable processing means, said control means including a memory for storing a program having instructions defining a sequence of operations of said operable processing means, and a data memory;
- first imput means for starting the sequence of operations; and
- second input means for entering a specific instruction signal into said computer control means to set a predetermined data in said data memory for instruction of omission of a portion of the program so as to permit said operable processing means to operate without actually producing the image,
- wherein said control means permits the operable processing means to operate without actually producing the image, upon identifying the fact that said predetermined data has been set by said second input means before starting the sequence of operations by said first input means, and said control means prevents said second input means from setting the predetermined data in said data memory, after start of the sequence for actually producing the image by said first input means.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said memory stores a program portion for detecting an improper operation state in the apparatus, and said computer control means prevents said operable processing means from operating upon detection of the improper state by said program portion.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said program portion comprises instructions for responding to detection of jamming of material in a path of movement thereof in said apparatus.
- 5. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said program portion comprises instructions for responding to plural improper states in said apparatus.
- 6. An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said program portion comprises instructions for responding to a plural detection of jamming of material in a path of movement thereof in said apparatus.
- 7. An image forming apparatus including:
- processing means for forming an image on a recording medium;
- means for detecting a state of the apparatus;
- control means responsive to a signal from said detecting means, for causing said processing means to prevent its operation, said control means including a computer having a program stored therein for causing said processing means to operate in accordance with a predetermined sequence, for identifying whether or not an improper state has occurred in accordance with the signal from said detecting means, and for causing said processing means to cease its operations in response to said identification of the occurrence of the improper state; and
- input means for entering a specific instruction signal to said computer to instruct omission of a portion of the program so as to permit the operation of said processing means regardless of the existence of an improper state, wherein said portion of the program is for identifying whether or not the improper state has occurred in accordance with the signal from said detecting means.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said detecting means further includes means for detecting the jamming of the recording medium in a predetermined passage thereof in said apparatus.
- 9. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said program portion comprises instructions for responding to plural improper states in said apparatus.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said program portion comprises istructions for responding to a plural detection of jamming of material in a path of movement thereof in said apparatus.
- 11. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- operable processing means for forming an image;
- computer control means for controlling operation of said operable processing means, said control means including a program memory for storing a plurality of instructions defining a sequence of operations of said operable processing means and a data memory;
- first input means for starting the sequence of operations; and
- second input means for entering a specific signal into said computer control means to set a predetermined data in said data memory for instruction of selection of some of the instructions stored in said program memory so as to permit said operable processing means to operate without normal image formation,
- wherein said control means permits said operable processing means to operate without actually producing the image, upon identifying the fact that said predetermined data has been set by said second input means before starting the sequence of operations by said first input means, and said control means prevents said second input means from setting the predetermined data in said data memory, after start of the sequence for actually producing the image by said first input means.
- 12. An image processing apparatus comprising:
- operable processing means for processing an original image;
- computer control means for controlling operation of said operable processing means, said control means including a program memory for storing a plurality of instructions defining a sequence of operations of said operable processing means and a data memory;
- first input means for starting the sequence of operations; and
- second input means for entering a specific signal into said computer control means to set a predetermined data in said data memory for instruction of selection of some of the instructions stored in said program memory so as to permit said operable processing means to operate without normal image processing,
- wherein said control means permits said operable processing means to operate without actually producing the image, upon identifying the fact that said predetermined data has been set by said second input means before starting the operation of the operable processing means, and said control means prevents setting or resetting the predetermined data in said data memory, after start of the sequence of operations by said first input means.
- 13. An apparatus according to claim 11 or 12 wherein said specific signal provides an instruction to permit the operable processing means to operate regardless of the existence of an improper state.
- 14. An image forming apparatus comprising:
- processing means for forming an image on a recording medium;
- means for detecting a state of the apparatus;
- computer control means responsive to a signal from said detection means for causing said processing means to prevent its operation, said control means including a program memory for storing a plurality of instructions for causing said processing means to operate in accordance with a predetermined sequence, for identifying whether or not the state has occurred in accordance with the signal from said detection means, and for causing said processing means to cease its operations in response to said identification of the occurrence of an improper state; and
- input means for entering a specific instruction signal to said computer control means to instruct selection of some of said plurality of instructions stored in said memory so as to permit the operation of said processing means regardless of the detection of an improper state, wherein said some of the plurality of instructions are ones that omit the instructions for identifying whether or not the improper state has occurred in accordance with said detecting means.
- 15. An apparatus according to claim 14, wherein said detection means further includes means for detecting the jamming of a recording medium in a predetermined passage in said apparatus.
- 16. An apparatus according to any one of claims 11, 12, 14, or 15 wherein said memory stores instructions for detecting an improper state in the apparatus, and said computer control means prevents said processing means from operating upon detection of the improper state by said detection instructions, and said specific signal instructs omission of said detection instructions.
- 17. An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said detection instruction comprises instructions for responding to plural improper states in said apparatus.
- 18. An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said detection instruction comprises instructions for responding to a plural detection of jamming of material in a path of movement thereof in said apparatus.
- 19. An apparatus according to any one of claims 2-12, 14 or 15, wherein said control means causes a plurality of said processing means to operate without feeding a recording medium in accordance with said specific instruction.
